I didn't like his ***** phase after 9/11 either. Civil War Cap on the other hand was cool.

For those who aspire to live in a high cost, high tax, big government place, our nation and the world offers plenty of options. Vermont, Canada and Venezuela all offer you the opportunity to live in the socialist, big government paradise you long for. –Senator Rubio

Given the synopsis on IMBD, I'm actually surprised that director even chose to address the question of Captain America's patriotism. A person who wasn't all Yay America wouldn't volunteer for secret Army Medical experiments.

You're talking about a time when people commited suicide because they were 4F. Patriotism may have less to do with it than questioning of manlyness.

Also the director said he wasn't a jingoist, not "he wasn't a patriot". There's a difference. If he had said that Rogers wasn't a "flag waving patriot" then I would be worred.

Also, I STILL want the "do you think this A stands for FRANCE???" line.

Sorry. I'm not buying a person who volunteers for potentially lethal experiments just so he can be declared fit to serve in the Armed Forces and fight Nazis not being a flag waver of somesort.

Damn, I was going to say DD doesn't know the difference between patriot and jingoist.

                    He still doesn't.

In DD's mind there are no good reasons as to why someone would volunteer to do something when the country is in severe danger, unless he is a "flag waving jingoist".

I mean they've beat to death in the comics that Rogers doesn't like the American government but loves the ideals. They run with a story along those lines every 5 years or so.

Yeah, without love for America who could oppose Hitler?

Yeah because if they volunteer for the army it would be in a safe position, and not a potentially lethal job.

More survivable than untested and as far as you know unsafe medical procedures.

Yeah okay DD. I'm sure that testing new procedures are much more deadly than being an infantryman or a ball-turret gunner.(Or if you're in the German Navy, a U-boat sailor). Even in 1941.

I mean scientists do that all the time, right? They jump straight from formula, past animal testing, and proceed to just start stabbing people with needles without having any idea as to what will happen.
