EDIT: Upon reflection, that's a fair call.

Today, you are the waves of the Pacific, pushing ever eastward. You are the sequoias rising from the Sierra Nevada, defiant and enduring.

Okay I know next to nothing about this but...

The guy obviously had a very strong sense of patriotism to want so badly to serve his country when he couldn't and was willing to do whatever, including inject steroids with unknown effects, in order to serve his country in some way. That's a very strong sense of patriotism.

However, military personnel have volunteered to be tested with **** a lot over the years... don't know if every one of them were all gung ho Team America.

I doubt they will because I doubt there is a way to make the costume look good with a giant A on his forehead.

Also, it seems like they are going to set Captain America in the 40's. How are they going to bring everyone together for the Avengers then? Is he going to get frozen in ice at the end of the movie?

I guess if they are setting it in the 40's instead of trying to do a modern day version, that it would look less weird to have a dated looking costume.

I believe that, even in the comics, the SS serum makes him immune to aging. I could be wrong. My prediction: in the movie, he will also be immune to aging, but at the end he will be so disgusted by post-war anti-commie paranoia (or something) that he'll hang up his shield. SHIELD convinces him to come back and...Avengers!

                Something like that.

I've never seen him without an A on his head. Except the black costume.

It'll definitely have to be ice. Which, considering the history of the comic, wouldn't be terrible.

But with this being set during WW2, I'm actually expecting a bit more flag waving patriotism. Post-Vietnam Cap was much different than WW2 Cap, and for good reason. Do we want a lot of moral ambiguity while he is beating up Nazis? Naw, just kick their ass. With the bad rap America has gotten over the last few decades, I don't think anyone will really dispute that we were clearly the good guys in WW2. Why not flaunt that?

I want Lee Greenwood for the closing credits.

Without knowing anything about the project, I'm going to predict very little unbridled patriotism, just because that kind of thing is extremely unfashionable in Hollywood. If I were a betting man, I'd be inclined to bet that Captain America will whoop Nazi ass only to become disillusioned by the administration's abuse of wartime powers (there will be a Japanese internment camp with a name suspiciously like "Guantanamo") and ultimately will resign after they start red-baiting their critics. Cap will make a relatively lengthy, boring speech about dissent being the ultimate form of patriotism and all sorts of other modern parallels that would have seemed clever and relevant back in 2004 or so. After all, we ate that whinging-liberal **** up in Avatar, and it wasn't even topical there.

I think it is quite obvious that in the world of Avatar, shortly after the events of the movie, the corporation sends a high velocity rock to destroy the planet so they can mine in peace.

Talk about "lies and misinformation?" Breitbart's objection is to director Joe Johnston use of "jingoistic flag waver" in not-so-veiled reference to the liberal caricature of the TEA Party. (Johnston need only have added "racist" to the phrase to complete the meme.)
