QFT. I am actually starting to get mildly offended by much of the rather baseless assumptions made at the expense of all catholics.

HC, did I educate you that it's not as simple as non-voters don't matter? Don't forget also non-citizen legal immigrants can't vote but their rights and opinions matter as well. That's what makes us a constitutional republic because the government provides for the rights of even those without the franchise. Or at least, it should.

I just said that legal immigrants can not vote but are still part of this country and affected by American laws and policies... that people with felony convictions have limited to no ability to vote... they are not cutting themselves out of the political system by choice.

He has a similar, albeit lesser, effect on the reputation of Christianity in general on these boards. Which is the main reason why those of his fellow-Christians who show solidarity should really stop and un-circle them wagons.

I only defend Ben when it is warranted. In this debate on felon disenfrachisement I couldn't disagree with him more and contributed to the other side. Not with insults and flaming (which Ben's opponents often resort to) but with some simple stats that refute his entire argument.

If he ignores those stats (which y'all say he does constantly) then it really isn't worth my time to debate him, I'll just go elsewhere.

I've pointed out before that he's got a bit of a rage-on for the RCC, after he dragged them into a completely unrelated thread out of the blue (the actual topic was famous explorers). I've actually never defended Catholic priests, either--the closest I've ever come was in Moby's Scientology troll months ago, when I argued that their shameful coverup was not as bad as the CoS's deliberate campaigns of blackmail and intimidation. But I'll be the first to admit I wasn't arguing very well in that thread.
