it's because discussing political polls is ACTUALLY more interesting than another Asher RCC bashing thread, which is kind of old news now.
bashing the Catholics would have to have gotten REALLY stale for it to exceed discussing political polls on the scale of interesting things to do. Bashing Catholics is a time-honored tradition since the days of Martin Luther!

Well, their reason for preferring that model could be bias. But I guess they have a decent excuse for what they're doing and aren't blatantly abusing power like the Catholics.

The voter model is pretty much the only place you really get to lean on the scale in modern polling, so it's not saying much to claim that this is the only place they differ.

Is it coincidence that the pollster paid by Fox News is at the right end of pollsters while some outfit called Democracy Corps is at the other? I report, you decide...

They have an economic incentive to get it right, too you know. Yes this does still allow some leaning left or right without huge consequences but they can't just go ape**** and massage data QUITE however they please.

They have an economic incentive to play to their crowd while not reporting that 96% of Americans thirst for the blood of the socialist Muslim traitor Obama.

That is because Anti-Catholicism is the last acceptable prejudice

Actually, there are a number of acceptable prejudices, they just depend on one's immediate surroundings. There are places where you can hate gays, the urban poor, Republicans, Mexicans, Muslims, everyone even vaguely associated with the federal government, immigrants in general and people who don't drive hybrids, for example. Not all in one place, but in our hyper-partisan society it's only really universally unacceptable to hate black people and women. Oh, and Jews, of course.

Lots of priests are gay, no big news. If you are gay and a practicing Catholic, the priesthood looks like an ideal job because you can remain unmarried and no one will ask why you are not with a woman when you are 30something.
Most of the homosexual priests remain chaste, but many don´t/can't
This dude made it worse by stealing lots of money to pay male hookers (I bet he only ****ed excellent male hookers, the very expensive ones)

In other parts of the world, the very poor third world countries, the problem is not priests being gay, but priests banging women like crazy and having lots of illegitimate kids. In Africa (a continent in which the number of catholics went from 10 to 130 million in half a century) that happens, and the church just prefers to ignore the situation.

"On April 13, 2009, Lugo admitted he is the father of a child conceived with Viviana Carrillo, age 26, while he was still a Roman Catholic bishop. The revelation came five days after lawyers for Ms. Carrillo announced they were filing a paternity suit against the President. Ms. Carrillo's lawyers say the boy was born on May 4, 2007. Pope Benedict XVI did not relieve Lugo from his vows of chastity until July 31, 2008.[16][17] A minor judicial investigation ensued as it was claimed that the woman was under 18 years old when the relationship started. Nothing was proven.

One week later, a second woman, Benigna Leguizamón, came forward in Paraguay alleging that President Fernando Lugo fathered one of her children in 2002 when he was serving as a Catholic bishop.[18] However, Lugo did not acknowledge this child as in the first case. Leguizamón then filed a lawsuit against the President demanding a DNA test.[19] Other Paraguayan bishops were reportedly informed of such allegations in 2004, but did not make them public at the time.[20] A third woman, pro-government political activist Hortensia Morán, appeared a day after Leguizamón and also claimed President Lugo is the father of her child — this one a 16-month-old boy she claimed she named after late Pope John Paul II.[21] Initially she waited for Lugo's spontaneous recognition of her child, but as this didn't happen after seven months, Morán became the third woman to sue the President.[22]"

As usual, Catholics have a persecution complex.

There are many 'code words' for Black, you know. Urban poor is one of them.

I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

Barnabas, if you think there's anti-catholic prejudice now, you should check out what it was like a century ago...

More of a subset, really. I'm sure people who dislike the Urban Poor are fine with Bill Cosby and the half-dozen black Republicans. And the term also includes sundry Latinos and people of suspicious Muslim ancestry. Probably a few Chinese immigrants as well.
