I don't know that bike lanes or bike paths make sense @ $1.2 billion, but they seem to be heavily used in Washington now that they are pretty common. There are surprisingly many bike commuters nowadays. Something of a trend or a fad, depending on how you might like to portray it.I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. I'm no fan of cyclists (****ing dicks), but I'd rather they have their own lane than drive on the road. Cyclists don't obey the rules of the road, and if you bump them you're both in a world of hurt (you financially, them physically).

Again, Asher, but how much can the painted demarcations cost? And you don't need it on EVERY road (one, because there are sidewalks after all where people can ride their bikes especially since all the corners have depressions) just every few roads (like a bike lane on 12th street, then you can skip a couple before putting a bike lane on let's say 9th street, etc.)
