Do you even know how steroids work?
And go back to my original point? Why are the metabolic demands of soccer exactly the same as hockey and similar to basketball while very different from distance running? And how can a marathoner ever compete effectively against a sprinter in anything BUT long distance running."Flutie was better than Kelly, Elway, Esiason and Cunningham." - Ben Kenobi

Who can jump higher? Farther? Who can squat more weight? Who can lift more with his arms? Who can do freaking anything besides run?! One, you can't just get big arms, chest, etc. as a side effect of steroids. Go take some steroids and sit on your ass and see how good that works out for you! Without adaptation brought on by actively physically training, the higher testosterone and growth hormone levels brought on by steroids would do nothing. You can't take steroids, squat all day, and get big biceps. It doesn't work like that except for novices."Flutie was better than Kelly, Elway, Esiason and Cunningham." - Ben Kenobi

It's been demonstrated that short bursts of high intensity, primarily anaerobic, activity improve muscular and aerobic endurance across the board and is more effective for improving endurance than steady state aerobic work."Flutie was better than Kelly, Elway, Esiason and Cunningham." - Ben Kenobi

This study consists of two training experiments using a mechanically braked cycle ergometer. First, the effect of 6 wk of moderate-intensity endurance training (intensity: 70% of maximal oxygen uptake (VO2max), 60 min.d-1, 5 d.wk-1) on the anaerobic capacity (the maximal accumulated oxygen deficit) and VO2max was evaluated. After the training, the anaerobic capacity did not increase significantly (P > 0.10), while VO2max increased from 53 +/- 5 ml.kg-1 min-1 to 58 +/- 3 ml.kg-1.min-1 (P < 0.01) (mean +/- SD). Second, to quantify the effect of high-intensity intermittent training on energy release, seven subjects performed an intermittent training exercise 5 d.wk-1 for 6 wk. The exhaustive intermittent training consisted of seven to eight sets of 20-s exercise at an intensity of about 170% of VO2max with a 10-s rest between each bout. After the training period, VO2max increased by 7 ml.kg-1.min-1, while the anaerobic capacity increased by 28%. In conclusion, this study showed that moderate-intensity aerobic training that improves the maximal aerobic power does not change anaerobic capacity and that adequate high-intensity intermittent training may improve both anaerobic and aerobic energy supplying systems significantly, probably through imposing intensive stimuli on both systems."Flutie was better than Kelly, Elway, Esiason and Cunningham." - Ben Kenobi

Besides, I knew a guy in the gym who used steroids regularly, but spend most of his time in a gym playing ping-pong.He was ****ing crazy and ****ing big.

I find it difficult to even google something to show you the obvious fact that steroids are useless without exercise.
Do steroids cause muscle and body growth? There is no evidence that ultra-high doses of steroids alone will cause muscle growth through a chemical effect. In many animal species, high doses of anabolic steroids produce no more muscle growth than the normal dose would.(1,2) However, there is evidence that steroids enhance muscle growth if taken along with rigorous physical training and a high protein diet.(3-5) This exercise program must be in place before and during anabolic steroid administration.(4,6)"Flutie was better than Kelly, Elway, Esiason and Cunningham." - Ben Kenobi

If you think that when a sprinter runs short distance he doesn't use muscles of his upper body you are hopeless.

Okay, Serb, how many sprinters do you personally know? I know several Division I sprinters (the highest level of collegiate competition in the US)... I have trained with them. first of all, they DO train other parts of their bodies besides their legs. They do pullups, pushups, presses, etc. Hence why they're all-around good athletes (do you honestly think marathoners shoulder press as part of their regular training?)
You're the one that said the big arms are a mere 'side-effect' of steroid usage, implying they get big regardless of what is done. They get big whether they do steroids or not, because they actively train their upper body, not as a side-effect of steroids!Last edited by Al B. Again, Serb...
you ignore this because it's inconvenient to you, I guess...
Understanding energy systems underpins the study of exercise and the effect it has on the human body.
