Asher, the problem with Steam is the Deluxe editions extra content, and why it exists in the first place. Fear that 2K continue with DLC and ****s up the community and modding is pretty well founded tbh.

Deluxe/Collector's Editions aren't a Steam problem. They've been doing that **** before Steam came around.

I think he meant extra features not available in the regular game tied with the deluxe/promotions (supposedly I think you can play as Babylon only with a specific version). But yeah, they've been doing that for a few years now (Gamestop pre-orders come with special weapons in a FPS, etc.)

I agree with you, and I'm happy Steam is part of the system, if it is used for MP ranking and stats. Otherwise I can't see that big an advantage to it (no large downsides either).

That was like the longest and most reasoned post I've ever seen AAHZ make and it was about videogames of all things.

All I want Civ to have is a really good Earth map with appropriate starting locations

and some natural mechanism on the Earth map to check unrealistic expansion while not hindering crowded continents too much (ie- the Zulu having a huge African empire while the Europeans having two cities each); maybe the city state feature will be something along these lines. Some sort of minor civs thing would be cool... like they develop along with the game average kind of like barbarians do but actually hold territory and don't just easily get exterminated.
