dont pay a ticket, that'll get yer license suspended - but 6 times? I'd think they'd impound the car.

Yes, yes it is a crime. Too bad the majority of the American people disagree with you.
I dont see a poll, but I dont depend on the majority to think for me. Explain why its a crime and be prepared to defend that slander.

A crime is a wrongdoing classified by the state as a felony or misdemeanor.

And by that definition, it could be a crime to merely exist. The key word there is "wrong" doing, and the state may try to legislate morally but morality is not defined by the law. It was a "crime" for slaves to runaway and it was a "crime" to help them, but slavery was the crime - the wrongdoing... The state did not invent morality or criminality, these existed before politicians.

Crime is a legal term not a moral one.

Berz, you are the one who asked why it was a crime. It's a crime because it's in the criminal statutes.

A proof is a proof because it's a proof. What more proof do you need. [/paraphrased]

Actually, that would have more sense if Berz was originally asking "why is it a crime?" and not "it's not a crime".

Unless you have guns, lots of drugs, or dead hookers, your car won't get impounded for driving on a suspended license.

On a lighter note, I want to make history as the first PolyTubby to arrest another one. Felch- can you post description of your vehicle and a plate and drive repeatedly up and down Georgia Avenue between Eastern Ave., NW and New Hampshire Avenue? I could use the arrest stat

Driving with a suspended license and bragging about it.

...and in other news, Felch hasn't posted since. Think they got him?
No, I did not steal that from somebody on Something Awful.

You usually get a suspended license by committing vehicular idiocy.

You ONLY get caught driving with a suspended license six times by continuing said idiocy enough to attract a cop's attention at least six times after the fact.

                            Victimless? Are you serious?

Want to see a phonebook of victims that didn't survive their encounter with someone driving on a suspended license? Just read the news for a couple years.
I never noticed this before, but you're quite a self righteous dick.

I'm on a provisional driver's license, and at this rate will be until I'm dead. That means that everything I can get my license suspended just for a couple speeding tickets. All I have on my record are speeding tickets and the driving while suspended charges that stem from those. I have never killed anybody. But thanks for making me out to be a killer.

Right now, my license is valid. In a couple months it won't be, because of this case. And I'll continue driving because that's how I get to work. I'm not some ******* who runs kids over, I'm just stuck in a vicious cycle. I'm not saying it's a great thing, but hey it's life.

Maybe instead of pedantic snobbery, you could explain why the legislature made it a crime. I think that's the question Berz was actually asking.

A hundred years ago, weed was legal in most of America. Starting in the southwest, state legislatures began criminalizing it as a way of attacking Mexicans and Blacks who were associated with its use. By the 1930s, yellow journalism and the Federal Bureau of Narcotics had convinced America that marijuana was a drug that turned good white kids into homocidal maniacs, and in 1937 marijuana was effectively criminalized across the country through a national tax act.

Hopefully we'll grow out of it, but for now we're still dealing with a consequence of early 20th century racism and absurd propaganda.

                                Maybe later

Ordinarily I'd be happy to help out another Tubby, but I'm kind of busy right this second.

On the car impounding note, most cops will let you call a friend to drive it away instead of towing it. Cops are generally good people in my experience, and don't act like TMM up here with the judgemental BS.
