    Obviously.

Yes but they're not adding sugar in everything. They're adding HFCS.

It's really easy to avoid HFCS, if you want to. I'd suggest eating an apple instead of whatever snack food you're eating that has HFCS in it, but you probably wouldn't want to touch an apple as it contains FRUCTOSE! OMG!

Hey go take a look in your kitchen pantry and see what you got. I'll list a few things that I found contain HFCS:

      Barbecue Sauce
      Caesar salad dressing
      Peanut butter
      Tomato sauce
      Ketchup
      Raisin Bran cereal
      Rice a Roni Four Cheese
      Vanilla Yogurt
      Grape Jam
      White bread

go ahead and play the look for HFCS game... You'll be amazed! Bread even! Raisin Bran cereal!

Must still be tallying the hundreds of things in your house with HFCS in them! Don't forget the mayonnaise! Or the pasta salad mix!

        • You're a ****ing moron, and quoted moronic studies. The relevant comparison is between HFCS (55% fructose, 45% glucose as used in most drink sweeteners) and regular sucrose (50-50, linked by a quickly-dissolved ether bond). Therefore, nonsense like this:

The digestion, absorption, and metabolism of fructose differ from those of glucose. Hepatic metabolism of fructose favors de novo lipogenesis. In addition, unlike glucose, fructose does not stimulate insulin secretion or enhance leptin production. Because insulin and leptin act as key afferent signals in the regulation of food intake and body weight, this suggests that dietary fructose may contribute to increased energy intake and weight gain. Furthermore, calorically sweetened beverages may enhance caloric overconsumption. Thus, the increase in consumption of HFCS has a temporal relation to the epidemic of obesity, and the overconsumption of HFCS in calorically sweetened beverages may play a role in the epidemic of obesity.

is retarded, and so are you.

Secondly, that "study" simply notes that obesity and HFCS consumption both increase secularly. What a ****ing moronic excuse for a methodology.

The second study is better, but again obscures the distinction between fructose and HFCS, and between glucose and sucrose.

The third appears to lack any sort of coherent methodology as well as once more missing the distinction between fructose and HFCS.

The fourth is idiotic, and says that if you feed mice sugar and fat they get fat. HOLY **** SOMEBODY CALL THE ****ING NEWSPAPER.

                • How does that change the point that we shouldn't have this stuff put into Raisin Bran or bread? That it shouldn't be in virtually everything marketed for consumption?

Sugar additives are bad whatever the form. Sometimes these debates turn into so much intellectual penis comparison while missing the real-life implications that sugar additives (HFCS being the most common) appear to have contributed to obesity and that is cause for concern.

And I've asked to change my name but no one's gotten around to it apparently.

Errr...because it destroys your claim that there is any meaningful distinction between the effects of HFCS and sugar on the body.

                          • At the very least, this is a contentious topic with evidence for both sides. I don't know why you think it's so clear-cut, KH. There is enough evidence for HFCS having an effect on our bodies different from the effect of other sugars to indicate some concern. But it's all a side point to two bigger issues...

                            1) sugar consumption by the at large American public is out of control and is contributing to obesity, diabetes, and other health problems

                            2) sugar consumption is not just from people eating cookies and soda but from a wide array of foods which contain sugar additives (HFCS being the most popular additive). Regardless of what Drake specifically eats, the eating habits of the majority of Americans is what is important here. Note that supposedly healthy foods like bread (the USDA recommends how many servings of carbs? Like 12 a day or something craptastic?), yogurt, and raisin bran cereal (I mean raisin bran! Come on. We're not talking anything obviously sweet or unhealthy here... in fact, the opposite!) all contain HFCS. That's worrisome.

Which is why this issue was even brought up in this thread in the first place... I noted that it is nice to have the option to buy organic food that doesn't contain sugar additives.

                              I'm fat?

To clarify, just because it is in my home does not mean that I personally eat it. Other people live here as well.

But, as I said in the previous post, none of that stuff is obviously bad for you, especially considering what else is out there and how much knowledge the average American has concerning diet and nutrition. I can imagine someone eating 'healthy' and consuming yogurt and raisin bran, while unbeknownst to them, they are consuming sugar additives. And we can talk about Atkins and Paleo and how much carbs we should eat, but the USDA insists that healthy Americans should consume a vast amount of bread so all that white bread that is being promoted is not only questionable because of its carb content, it's processed nature, etc. but also because the bread industry thinks it worthwhile to add HFCS to bread! I mean really? Why? Companies seem to throw the stuff in for the heck of it.

Which is exactly why it's nice to have organic foods on the market that don't contain the stuff!

                              And to re-iterate... I'm fat?

Who are you Drake? Really, who are you? I want to see this pinnacle of the human condition.

Bottled salad dressing is totally bad for you. How ****ing hard is it to make your own? Put some olive oil and vinegar in a container and shake the ****er. The result is way cheaper and better for you.

Also, anything with "Four Cheese" in it's name probably isn't going to be great for you.
