EPW, I'm hoping to divorce the Nazi ideas and concentrate on the Wilsonian self determination of peoples idea. Honestly I think the ethnic German self determination thing was justified.

Like I said, I'm hoping to advance beyond Nazism to the classic Wilsonian ideals. Independent of what people did in the past what is justified in terms of self government and self determination of peoples?Try http://wordforge.net/index.php for discussion and debate.

What is and isn't a "people" is kind of hard to define. For example, whether Austrians are Germans or something else is a matter of opinion. Unless a majority of Austrians agree that they are Germans and this is proven through a fair, democratic referendum I don't see how annexation could ever be justified.
Also I never typed ß until now.
But I could have figured it out. And that's not a façade.

I already knew a bunch about Austria-Hungary but I found this to be interesting since I knew there was an internal division but I never knew the exact lines. Orange is the Empire of Austria, the whitish color was the Kingdom of Hungary (which had a right to fly its own flag), while Bosnia was neither but administered by the imperial authorities.

In the late 19th century the Greater German concept combined with racist and antisemitic elements was adopted by the Pan-Germanist movement of the Alldeutscher Verband in Germany and its counterpart in Austria–Hungary. The idea of Austrian territories with a significant German-speaking population joining a Greater German state was again officially promoted after the dissolution of Austro–Hungarian monarchy in 1918 by the proclamation of a German Austrian rump state. An annexation was however prohibited according to the terms of both the treaties of Saint-Germain and Versailles, though some right-wing Austrian political parties like the Greater German People's Party pursued the demand. In the course of the 1938 Anschluss of Austria, Adolf Hitler declared himself the consummator of Greater German ideas.Try http://wordforge.net/index.php for discussion and debate.
