Malaria kills more people in the third-world that DDT ever would have.

DDT remains now and always has been used to fight malaria in the third-world. We just stopped using it for crops. Idiot.


FWIW, Carson transcends a simple discovery about DDE. She started the environmental movement in the US.

If some African country isn't using DDT to fight malaria, how is Rachel Carson to blame?

I mean, read the article. "Experts tie the resurgence of malaria to numerous factors, including poor leadership, management, and funding of malaria control programs; poverty; civil unrest; and increased irrigation. The evolution of resistance of the malaria parasite to the drugs traditionally used to treat the disease (e.g. chloroquine) and evolution of resistance of mosquitoes to insecticides have greatly exacerbated the situation. Resistance of mosquitoes to DDT was largely fueled by its often unrestricted use in agriculture." Is this the work of Rachel Carson?

When did Rachel Carson ever call for a ban on using DDT to fight malaria? Seems like some people are just believing whatever they want to believe.

It was never banned for fighting malaria, Drake made perhaps the most ignorant statement this month.

The use of DDT in vector control has not been banned, but it has been largely replaced by less persistent alternative insecticides.

Obviously, ignorance is no obstacle in Drake's political agenda. He'll just pretend he knows something and make outrageous statements based on nothing. He'll do anything he can to demonize political opponents and facts or knowledge cannot stand in his way - now we know.
