  • I did some research (aka Googling) to make sure that we were on the same page.

Apparently, along with being brainy, into technology, gaming, sci-fi, and so forth, nerds have the added quality of being UGLY. So in that case, you may be right. These may all be geek comedians.

    • Tosh himself is a major geek.

No, he isn't; he's a smarmy pretty-boy. Whatever your definition of "geek" or "nerd" is, it's ****ing ridiculous.

You can dress well and sleep with women and still be a geek.

      Yet more ridiculousness.

You said "most of them" - get specific. If you're going to refute, back it up with evidence of their lack of nerdy. For every one, I will provide evidence of their possession of nerd qualities.

I'd rather not. Unlike you, I'm not a complete loser and actually have better things to do with my time.

I think you're just angry at nerds and geeks who become more successful then you. Its called "Geek Chic".

First off, anyone who's life revolved around theater in high school was a nerd. We're called "Drama Geeks" for a reason.

Lewis Black: Go read his book. Graduated HS summa *** laude, received high math SAT scores, he was on the literary team and the debate team, he went to college to be a playwright, etc... go check out his pre-fame photos: http://www.lewisblack.com/photos.aspx#photos

Eddie Izzard: Half his routine is Star Wars jokes. He ends "Glorious" with a routine about technology. He says "I have technojoy" - he loves technology. And, like half of Poly, he wears women's underwear.

Interview w the Times: It has to be said here that Izzard is a complete, ocean-going acting nerd. He won't ever open up about his personal life - even an inquiry as general as “Where do you live in LA?” is met with a cagey: “In LA. In a bungalow”. And “What do you spend your money on?” elicits little more than “iPhones. And DVDs of Dancing with Wolves. I just f****ing love that film.” But he will talk all night about acting. He is a thespian trainspotter. In the last two interviews that I've done with him, he has - in an informative and impassioned manner - instructed me on classic death scenes, how to take the ideal “intense” publicity shot, the “267 Golden Rules of Acting” and how, for “acting truth”, you have to “kill the funny”. http://entertainment.timesonline.co....cle3410465.ece

                        • I guess I should ask you to define a nerd. Google any of these guys and the word "nerd", and I'm not the only one who can see their nerdy qualities. I think ya'll have too narrow a definition.

But like I said, anyone who did theater in high school was most likely a nerd. And I'm not talking about "was the lead in the musical". I'm talking about those who for example went to the theater to have lunch. These people all qualify.

Wow. What is obvious is you don't know the first thing about the art of stand-up.
