    • For what it's worth, Laz, I'd place you firmly into the 'nerd' camp right now. But I suspect you have strong social skills.

If that's the case, it's an obvious fallacy to say someone looks like a nerd. And yet, and yet....

If you saw my Maths and Science grades, you'd never make that assertion again.

Theater Geek does not equal Nerd.

QFT. Joel McHale convincingly plays the cool guy on Community, for god's sake.

Anyway, I recommend that you all check out Tosh.0 and let us know if you think Daniel Tosh is a nerd or not.

Drake - they call it "acting". He's geeky then. I'll give that geek and nerd are different.

                  • I think its just hard to relate to people more than one stdv below you. I think that's why people in the 120-135 range are such jerks, people up in the high 140's or 150's usually have accrued so much status and are so above you they can be benevolent and pet you on the head while saying "good doggy".

Considering smart kids don't get much socializing done or are likley to pick up bad habits, performance based private schools or perhas home and electronic schooling are the best options.

                      • I think I can sum this thread up in four sentences...

Nerds - We're just people who are smart and like to learn and everyone else is just jealous. We could be cool if we wanted to, but we choose not to play your game.

Non-Nerds - Actually, it's your awkwardness and lack of social skills that make you unpopular, not your intelligence. Stop flattering yourself.

Bingo. "Nerd" is a pejorative for a reason. People who are just smart and like to learn wouldn't earn such ire. This is coming from someone who was nerdy in high school (I grew out of it in college).

                          • BFB said nerds can't be comedians. That's the point I was arguing. Those people were all, at one time or another, nerds, who went on to be comedians.
