We already have rock for nerds and it's called "prog". Math rock is just a subgenre.

There isn't bad music. There are different tastes in music. That's a fact.
For an opinion, a person who is genuine about being interested in music should at least try all genres.
As an extreme example, AAHZ has very different preferences than I do. Saying that, I've watched some of those he's posted and I didn't hate them. I know that's a long way from being a fan, but I give them a chance.
I don't really like a lot of Opera. Still, there are some I like, and some I like a lot.
