If you think that Georgians had any right to go in and kill civilians and peacekeepers with their artillery and GRADS you are crazy.
The report says that Georgia violated international law when it used force against Russian peacekeeping troops stationed in Tskhinvali, and that from that moment, Russia’s army had grounds to use force in the peacekeepers’ defense.
As long as they have attacked and killed Russian peacekeepers stationed in Tskhinval, since that exact second it wasn't an internal Georgian issue anymore. With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion.

Can you be more specific, please?
And it's actually you, all of you brainwashed morons who cried a river about poor Georgia (innocent victim of Russian agression) in 2008 should be ashemed now. 'cause Mrs. Tagliavini gave a pretty clear summary of the EU investigation:
“None of the explanations given by the Georgian authorities in order to provide some sort of legal justification for the attack lend it a valid explanation,” said the lead investigator, Heidi Tagliavini, a Swiss ambassador, in a statement on Wednesday
The report actually proves that Sukashvili is:
a) Liar
b) Agressor
b) War criminal.
Any anyone who bought that bullsh!t of the western media brainwashing machine back then are, well, brainwashed fools.

The only reason there were Russian peacekeepers there in the first place is because Russia strong-armed the UN into placing ONLY Russian troops as "peacekeepers". Let's not pretend it was a neutral force sent by the UN; it was an imperialist force that twisted the UN's arm to operate exclusively.

Nobody else wanted to be involved in this Caucasus mess, except Russia. And we were involved because that powder keg threaten our own security. We had a problem with Chechnya back then and the last thing Russia wanted to see is Georgia occupied by Basaev fighters.
You had no idea how the hell that mess started and progressed and your wild guesses, just proves nothing but that.
It's all started after break-up of the Soviet Union when Georgian president Gamsakhurdia declared Georgia for Georgians, canceled Ossetian and Abkhazian authonomies (but historically both republics were never a core Georgian territory in the first place and became a part of the Georgian SSR only due to strong Georgian lobby in the Soviet government, yeah Stalin and Beria). Then Gamsakhurdia declared a massive amnistion, armed those ex-criminals and sent them on pair with his regular army to cleanese Abkhazia and South Ossetia from non-Georgians. At first they succeded. Then Abkhazians and SO called for their allies (volunteers from North Ossetia and paramilitaries from the Confederation of the Caucasus People, which Abkhazia was a part of). And there came Chechens lead by Shamil Basaev, and kicked the crap out of Georgian forces and armed criminals. Morever their counter-offensive brought Georgian military to its knees. The so-called forces of Caucasus Confederation (read: Basaev's Chechen muslim fighters) were deep in Georgian territory when Georgian leadership called for a peace talks. And since nobody else wanted to be involved in this mess except their closest neighbour Russia, the resluts were:
a) cease-fire
b) to prevent further fighting there must be a joint peacekeeper force combined from Georgian/South Ossetian/Russian troops (wrt to South Ossetia). As for Abkhazia the status of Russian peacekeepers there were granted by UN resolution.
c) the de-juro status of both Abkhazia and South Ossetia remain undetermined.
That was in 1993. Later the EU came in the region with their observers. And there were regular EU (OSCE) observers contingent when Sukashivili ordered an attack against Tskhinval in 2008. The situation was closely monitored by Euros and the monitors who actually were there at Aug. 2008 were very clear on who was the agressor.
So, stfu.
I've been to Abkhazia last summer and there are still scars of war from the Georgian invasion of 1992. You still can see damage everywhere even nearly 20 years after. I've seen that every town and village there have a graveyard right in the middle of it, often at school backyards or other uncommon (for graves) places. This is the legacy of Georgia for Georgians policy.
Anyone who thinks that Abkhazians or Ossetians will ever be a part of Georgia again is a deluded fool, who doesn't know a sh!t about these lands and these people. The generations must pass before they even forget and forgive Georgians for what they have done with their beautiful land.
p.s. And God bless the Russian peacekeepers were there, not the Dutch ones.Last edited by Serb; March 24, 2010, 11:22.

Who are "we"?
I've told everything what I think about Grozny years ago.
You bring Grozny, I bring Belgrad, Al-Najaf, Basra, Abu-Grave, Guantanamo, etc, etc, etc.
My only point here is to show that Sukashvili is a liar, agressor and war criminal. And anyone who still believes that Georgia was a victim of Russian agression in 2008 are nothing more but brainwashed fools.
Case closed.

From your source, Serb:
"There is no way to assign overall responsibility for the conflict to one side alone," the report found...
While concluding the Georgians fired the first shots, the report said the attack was the culmination of months and years of rising tension and provocations for which both sides bore the blame.
"The Russian side justified their military intervention by their intention to stop an allegedly ongoing genocide of the Ossetian population by the Georgian forces..."
[Preceded by]
[The report] rejected Russian claims of "genocide" in the breakaway Georgian province of South Ossetia...
Russian claims of Georgian "genocide" in South Ossetia were dismissed and Russian claims that Georgians had killed 2,000 civilians were found to be wildly exaggerated. The report put the figure of civilian dead at 162 on the South Ossetian side.
The Russians lied about genocide, that's pretty fkd up.Last edited by Ecofarm; March 24, 2010, 11:45.

And...
Like a western commision could solely blame a pro-western liberal Georgian president (dictator) for a blatant agression?
But this report is very clear on who started the war and who lied about the non-existed Russian invasion.
The Russians lied about genocide, that's pretty fkd up.
The report is very clear on that the Georgian attack on Tskhinval cannot be justified by any means.
But on the issues of who started what when, the report was unequivocal. The Georgian offensive against Tskhinvali was not justified under international law.
And that as a result of the shelling over a hundred civilians were killed.
First we see a smiling Sukashvili on TV who convince Ossetians to "let us go forward to peace together, no Georgian bullet will be fired upon Tskhinval since this moment" and at the same time he gives an order to his (already on their positions around the city) arty and Grads to bombard the sleeping SO capital.
The report is very clear on that:
"It is not possible to accept that the shelling of Tskhinvali with Grad multiple rocket launchers and heavy artillery would satisfy the requirements of having been necessary and proportionate".
What the **** is that shelling, if not act of genocide? When a mother****er first promises peace and at the same time gives an order to bombard a sleeping city with the sole purpose to kill civilians - it is an act of genocide, if you ask me.
Whatever.
We had reports about atrocities commited by Georgian soldiers (I have already posted links to videos of these atrocities many times, videos shot by Georgian soldiers themselves on their phones).
We knew the regular Georgian army has started to bombard a city with arty and GRADS.
We knew that our peacekeepers are still under attack and we have casualties.
We didn't know the exact number of killed people, but we knew there are a lot of killed people and people are still dying there and we knew who is responsible for that.
Anyway, how the hell do you define the term "genocide"?
Two thousand civilians (and dozens of peacekeepers) killed in a surprise attack is a genocide, while 162 killed civilians is not enough to be called a genocide???Last edited by Serb; March 24, 2010, 13:07.

Well, I can tell you what it is not. It is not 172 dead people.
Russia knew damn well it was lying about genocide. Falsely claiming that others were committing genocide to justify an invasion is just about as fkd up as it gets.
"There is no way to assign overall responsibility for the conflict to one side alone," the report found.
They didn't foresee Serb. To be fair, who could have anticipated such a thing.

Putin has never issued an order to commite a surprise attack with the sole purpose to kill the residents of the city.
