I don't think he is "screwing principle". He's just being realistic. If the money is ALREADY THERE, why not try to do his best for the people he is representing. It's too late to stop the fed from spending it in the first place.

No, they aren't. Earmarked or not, the money is already approved, it's just a matter of who spends it. Eliminate all earmarks, and 'pork' spending is reduced by exactly zero dollars.

If your principle is that it shouldn't be spent, it is best to keep your hands clean, rather than take it because everyone else is doing it. After all, actions speak louder than words.

What exactly do you think people mean when they talk about pork barrel spending?

Who spends it, and on what is a huge deal.

            Ron Paul is a dilhole.

That's not very Christian of you.

Given his fiscal track record, if anyone's going to decide who and where, I'll take Dr. Paul, thanks.

I expect his son to operate his Senate office under budget too. More Drs. Paul in Congress please.

The "action" is on those that voted for it and passed it... Those are what speak louder than words.
Once the money is passed, it is his responsibility to best represent his people. That's his job.

Your whole argument is bogus. So he sends back money? He also hogs a bunch of it.

Oh, so he's suppose to do something that's not in the best interest of the USA?

I can only guess what other people think, but Dino's suggestion that Dr. Paul ought to return earmarked 'pork' money to the Treasury is obviously based in ignorance.

                          edit: King me!

This is so retarded. He is accountable for how much he spends. If he spends what the rest of the country needs that rest of the country is just going to have to earmark more funds.

HUH? The best interests of the USA were already violated when the scum passed the spending in the first place. His job now is to make sure the interests of the people he represents in the USA are protected. That's how the system works.

Note that said scum does not include Dr. Paul. He votes against our obscene appropriations bills.
