Potentially 3 jobs. And no.

In fact, I have over a month off until my next full-time job starts.

But my old manager runs his own company in his own time and needs some help making some mobile apps. He's trying to bring me on board to help out. It sounds like a lot but it shouldn't be -- the full-time job will, of course, be lots of work.

But the old company's contract is mostly to ask me questions about things. Or when **** really hits the fan and everyone is clueless, I'll step in and clean it up. It's only until Aug 31st anyway.

The mobile development stuff will be more work, but it's the kind of stuff I enjoy and end up doing in my own time anyway.

I'm just happy to have an income bump right now because I think it's a great time to invest.

Norway started a state run oil company that they took public.

They use the revenues to fund their pension sytem.

The issue is what to do with the cash, not how the cash is generated. Although, Petro-Alberta has a certain ring to it. The province could own a corporation that could pick up the slack when the private sector is unwilling.

If only America had been as intelligent. Seriously, a state run oil company can be just as efficient as a private company (several dozen or so countries have them including the largest oil companies on Earth) and in at least a dozen countries the state run oil company pays around half the national budget of whole countries. We could lower taxes on regular people and still have more money then now plus the creation of a sovereign wealth fund would be an excellent long term investment for the entire nation.

I'd love to see California create a government owned oil company and then have it drill all of our coastal reserves with the profits (the part which is not reinvested but would have gone to shareholders) going into a sovereign wealth fund for long term capital appreciation. It could be a huge boon to the whole state but you just know the tea baggers would start screaming communism. Brazil's shipyards are working at full capacity even through the global downturn because the state oil company PetroBras is demanding so many drilling and production platforms.

And to celebrate, I got the job offer for the position I've been interviewing over the past several weeks. Was worried I'd need to take a pay cut to work in the Calgary market (which is smaller for my kind of thing), but that was definitely not the case.

My job offer to interview ratio continues to be ridiculous.

Good value-- I enjoy their games a lot but it takes a bit of getting used to the idea of a vibrant crowd in a half-full dome

Also I hear Roughnecks can be a hoot but I never have made the trek down for a game
