I'm relatively sure this has been the consensus opinion for a while now.

Matchmaker is OK, and there isn't anything inherently wrong (many girls do, even in the first world) with considerations of the man's ability to provide in the selection process. I didn't have a real problem with Lancer until recently, when he tried to connect a girl he knew to some new passerby on apolyton (who he didn't know anything about) and because of his poor behavior with respect to Aeson.

If it's still available, I would like to be directed to the relevant thread(s) where Lancer's and Aeson's perspectives are given.I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

Lancer would marry off a girl to a passerby? You connect people, they exchange
letters, images of themselves, talk on the phone, whatnot, before they even
shake hands for the first time months or years in the future. It's a process.

That's the problem for me.
I was only interested if he would wrap one up and ship her over (after beating the Catholic out of her of course). Still waiting..."I have never killed a man, but I have read many obituaries with great pleasure." - Clarence Darrow

Sad days, when the best to offer is the resurrection of a thread that was stupid to begin with.Life is not measured by the number of breaths you take, but by the moments that take your breath away.

We're just waiting for Civ5 Sloww. The owners are under the mistaken impression we just need a new Civ release and all will be fine."I have never killed a man, but I have read many obituaries with great pleasure." - Clarence Darrow

I'm sure when it's released it will be just the thing we've been waiting for all this time.
