Well, that was a totally unexpected reply. CH, did you mean this thread as a troll (or troll-bait), or what?

So my partner and I are getting bored with Canada -- too cold, too snowy, too nice. The jobs here are boring, and the people bland.

We're thinking of uprooting ourselves and moving to The Philippines, in part because of how beautiful it looks from the pictures people have posted here. I've heard nothing but great things about the country. And my dollar goes far there!

I found a "Foreigner's Guide to Real Estate in the Philippines" post online: http://hubpages.com/hub/Foreigners-G...he-Philippines
Does anyone know how accurate this is?

And if possible, I'd like to find out the going rate for the kind of compound we'd like to build or buy.

We would like a house with a large master bedroom (big enough for me and my partner, plus an undisclosed number of other people who may come and go). There needs to be room for approx 30-40 people to live in the compound. They need not get their own room, I'd be fine with them sharing rooms. Of course, a big kitchen is a must also -- gotta feed them somehow!

            Nice-to-haves include:
            - Discrete back door
            - Private dock
            - EnergyStar 4.0 compliant appliances

            Thanks in advance!

Or what? What is the frame of reference for dire consequences of hammock comparison?

It's clearly the Phils equivalent of dick size, and Aeson made Lancer feel distinctly inadequate.
Is it me, or is MOBIUS a horrible person?

Cort, I don't understand what it's all about, but apparently there's been a recent furor about something-or-other. A forum-wide consensus emerged from it that Lancer is a dirty pimp who abuses third-world women or something. I didn't have the heart or the patience to get the details clear.

Was a joke on several levels.

I'm relatively sure this has been the consensus opinion for a while now.

It hit Time Magazine a couple years ago.
"You say that it is your custom to burn widows. Very well. We also have a custom: when men burn a woman alive, we tie a rope around their necks and we hang them. Build your funeral pyre; beside it, my carpenters will build a gallows. You may follow your custom. And then we will follow ours."--General Sir Charles James Napier
