I think that opinion in the United States is decidedly different from the rest of the world because we have a free press -- by free, I mean a virgorously presented right wing point of view on the air and available to all.- Ned

For those who aspire to live in a high cost, high tax, big government place, our nation and the world offers plenty of options. Vermont, Canada and Venezuela all offer you the opportunity to live in the socialist, big government paradise you long for. –Senator Rubio

I'm just wondering what HL would do if the skeptic view becomes mainstream. Since he hasn't found an idle conspiracy theory unworthy to latch on to yet, will he suddenly reverse position? Your tinfoil hat doesn't work when everyone agrees with you!I'm consitently stupid- Japher

If?
With only 26% of Brits supporting the AGW hypothesis, I'd say the skeptic viewpoint is very much mainstream. Numbers are under 50% for US atm too, I believe.
Putting AGW skeptics in the tinfoil hat category is ignorant, frankly. No doubt alarmists will cling to their cozy perceived herd for as long as possible, however.
Btw, the media reports are still saying that P. Jones has stepped down "temporarily", but there is no way the CRU is going to take him back with his credibility where it is. Zero chance of that happening. He'll be a windmill operator in Holland, if he's lucky.
And wait til Pachauri gets the boot, talk about a sinking alarmist ship.

I love it how you continue to use "alarmists" "hysterics" or "herd mentality" for everyone who doesn't follow your line of thinking, all btw expressions that show a clearly negative or even derogatory connotation, but start whining about a "personal attack".Blah

I'm skeptical (but hopeful) we're doin much to the atmosphere
a 1 1/2 to 2 F degree rise in temperatures over 150 years coming out of a mini ice age is to be expected. And the ice cores show the record is much more chaotic with wild and fast swings in climate that make a 2 degree rise look mild. Furthermore, a slightly thicker atmosphere with more ghgs should reduce the contrasts between air masses making storms less severe. A warmer wetter world is a good thing, we just gotta figure out what to do with rising seas. Maybe we can take advantage of the East African Rift Valley, hasten the inevitable encroachment by the ocean and improve the climate further into the African interior. Thats a pretty dry and desolate place, but we'd be submerging fossils of our hominid ancestors
