  • The iPod Touch is the only reason iPod sales are not down massive amounts. You seem to be thinking "iPod" means "iPod Classic" and "iPod Nano". No, sales of those are WAY down...but the iPod Family includes iPod Touch, which is actually the only bright spot of the whole iPod family.

And who the **** cares about AT&T? That's not the main problem. Hell, the iPhone's marketshare in the US where it's AT&T-specific is the best in any country. In Canada, every single major carrier has the iPhone and Android is still growing far faster.

    • You cannot be serious. Like I cannot even believe this.

AT&T IS THE WORST carrier in the UNITED STATES. You don't think having to be on AT&T DRAMTICALLY Affects US iPhone sales?

Your canada argument is stupid on 2 levels.

      1) It is proven fact tahat Canada is too cold for safe operation of iPhone

"This winter brought the coldest weather in recorded Canadian history, with temperatures staying stable at below -20°C (-4°F) for weeks. In the meantime, Apple clearly states that the operating temperature for iPhone is 0° to 35°C (32° to 95°F), while the 'nonoperating temperature' is -20° to 45°C (-4° to 113°F)."
iPhone's Growing Market Share, Canada Too Cold for iPhone?, FileMaker on iPhone, and More, iNews Review, 2008.03.21. Also Lotus Notes coming to iPhone, Apple's iPhone simulator, enterprise email for iPhone, and more.

      2) iPhone rates in Canada are much much higher than they would be in the WEST BECAUSE we have more carriers in the United States and Verizon is better than all Canadian telecoms combined.

      • Verizon uses CDMA, which is a dead standard.

The problem is the vast majority of people who wanted an iPhone by now have switched to AT&T. Opening up to Verizon and others will help slightly, but it's not going to reverse fortunes. In many other countries, there is no exclusive iPhone carrier -- and in those countries, Android is kicking its ass, too.

        • Thank you for ignoring everything I said and focsing on the least relevant part, somehow. I am still not sure how you did it.

Rogers is a ****ty overpriced telecommunications company that I would rather die in the snow than be tethered to by contract.

          • So if you don't like Rogers, get the iPhone on Fido, Telus, Bell, or Virgin Mobile.

            • I knew you ware lying -- it is dominant phone in Canada

Canada seems to like the iPhone and iTouch, with 86% of mobile internet users using this platform to access the internet.
              'Kicking ass' indeed.

                Are you ****ing stupid?

                Don't answer that.

I said growing. Not current marketshare. iPhone is still #1 in terms of marketshare, the problem is Android is growing much faster than it is.

Those numbers are also misleading, because they bundle iPod Touch with iPhone. ~70% of the mobile traffic from iPhone OS-devices my company sees comes from the iPod Touch, not the iPhone.

Those numbers are also probably bull****, at least for Canada. PSP is 3% but Blackberry isn't even registering? That's bull****, Blackberries are ****ing native to Canada...they're insanely popular here. PSPs are very, very rare to see...especially for web browsing, WTF?

                • Also you forget to mention that iPhone was only available on Rogers until very recently.

Of course Android grows when there is one carrier in town.

Rogers is the #1 carrier in Canada by a good margin.

Android wasn't at all available in Canada until very recently either, so your point is bull****. Hasn't even been out for a year yet.

                    • 1 year > 3 months, which is how long it's been since iPhone was opened up beyond Rogers. You belong in Iran.

                      • Just bought a 3G iPad because it will let me watch Netflix from anywhere Something a notebook cannot do unless it has $60/month data, and even that is capped at 250 MB. Wiglaf win :B:

Actually, the notebook is a better idea here. It doesn't require an additional data plan like the iPad does, and it doesn't use mini-SIMs (which no one uses) like the iPad does. Not to mention it seems like everyone already has a notebook, so you don't need to pay for the ridiculously overpriced 3G iPad.

Not sure why you think notebook 3G data is capped at 250MB. I'm on a 6GB/mo cap and I never use more than ~400MB...

                            • If I want to watch Netflix anywhere, then the notebook does require a $70/month additional data plan, capped at a few GB. iPad is $30 month capped NOT AT ALL. I am not sure how Apple did it but AT&T bent over.

                                How do you figure?

                                Maybe in your communist country...
