Dude, starter laptops are $500 to $800. You expect them to not be in an important segment of the market?

The bulk of their volume is in cheap laptops? From which orifice is this drawn? You have some numbers to back that up?

As for the MacBook Pro being the vaunt, I will draw your attention back to the point of three-year reliability. You may not like the source of the numbers, but unless you have something better...

Apple completely obliterates the competition in the $1,000+ notebook/PC market in marketshare. Draw a conclusion pertaining to what segment of the market the vast majority of PC sales come from given how massive the PC marketshare is.

Fact is, ASUS makes many cheap laptops. Premium brands do not dilute the value by making cheap products (see: Apple, Dell XPS, etc).

I don't like and won't like any of the publicly available numbers because none of them will be from reliable sources. The nature of the beast.

I go by what I know (the design of the devices, the build quality, the component quality) and combine that with my rather-large anecdotal evidence supply.

Work gives us Toshiba laptops though honestly I don't use it all that much. It's never had a problem though.

I think some sourcing or citations would be in order.

So, Dell can make high end PCs while they sell entry level models for $550?
Dell provides technology solutions, services & support. Buy Laptops, Touch Screen PCs, Desktops, Servers, Storage, Monitors, Gaming & Accessories

By your logic Dell is a junk dealer.

Dell differentiates their quality with brands, which ASUS does not.

I specifically said Dell XPS. Alienware is another example of Dell's "premium" products. Don't play dense.

Simple fact is ASUS has something like 16 different ****ing models of laptops on sale for less than $1000 from memory express alone. They make cheap laptops.

Dell does make junkers, FWIW. Regardless of the price.

My SO had a $3700 Dell laptop fail twice in 2 years. 11 months after he bought it, needed to be replaced. 11 months after that, it needed to be replaced again but was not under warranty. He switched it to a MacBook Pro at that point and has had no issues.

Asus also differentiates by model lines. The fact that you are ignorant of this is not their fault.

If all you are going to do is claim that a particular dealer's stock is indicative of the vendor, then you are a silly person and this discussion is beyond pointless.

Come back with something other than a merchant site and your brother's unit.

Tell me, which brand names does ASUS use for their premium line?

Here's a clue. They use letter-number, like some auto makers. Their high-end stuff is not on that site.

So you think citing a model number for a high-end laptop is the same as having a high-end brand?

BMW doesn't sell 600 dollar cars.

Why do you think Toyota has the Lexus brand?
                              Honda the Acura brand?
                              Nissan the Infinity brand?

                              Terrible example, nye.

You're clearly not well-versed in the concept of branding. Which is still beside the point, as you contested my point that ASUS makes cheap laptops when the evidence is overwhelming that they produce a GREAT many very cheap laptops...

I did not say that Asus does not make entry level products, you silly person.

I said that Asus is a premium brand. In any given space that they compete they will deliver better products and they will charge a higher price.
