    Nice work TCO.

I was 90 kg for a few years, then gave up smoking and broke a few ribs in October 2008 and shot up to 100 kg. Back to 90 kg now, but aiming for 80 kg (about 176 lbs). It's the first time I've attempted weight loss with calorie control (although I'm using exercise as well).

Amazing how the metabolism slows with age, eh? I saw this 104 year old woman on TV news, spry old vixen, ate a small piece of chicken breast and one stalk of broccoli per day.

They are cheap, even if the price doesn't always reflect that.

They position themselves as a premium brand, they're not. They used to be.

Their new motherboards are awful too. I used to be loyal to ASUS but after two ASUS motherboards in row blew capacitors, I switched to Gigabyte and haven't had issues.

They don't have a single laptop for sale more than like $1700 last I checked. They are mid-range at best, but they're cheap compared to the premium laptops (MacBook Pros, ThinkPads, etc).

Just look at all of these "non-cheap" "premium" laptops brand new at ~$750 CDN

This premium ASUS laptop breaks the bank at $669:

BTW last weekend I went to OB and one of my girlfriend's friends & her boyfriend stayed at the Ocean Beach Villa Inn (where I believe you stayed when we met). We then went to the South Beach Bar & Grill for fish tacos, oyster tacos, and shrimp tacos. It was good stuff though honestly the best fish tacos in town are served on a Mexican roach coach named Mariscos German. The smoked marlin tacos will change your life! They're that good.

Saras: You can do whatever you put your mind to on the weight loss. Just restrain the eating (more veggies, less fat, less overall calories/more bulk). Diet is more critical than exercise. Anyone can eat big macs faster, then exercise them off.

                              Oh, geez...

                              let's take the Asus with 15in, C2D6600, 4G, 320G, $759

Acer has 500G with BluRay for $789. ie cheaper laptop with more commodities

and other models with lesser commodities for a couple hundred less ($569)

Lenovo has a model for $699

                              LG, $649

                              Toshiba, $629 or $719

Asus does not make the cheapest laptops that even this dealer sells. Of five other vendors with 15in models (the majority of laptops cuurently) four have cheaper models. Nice try.

I didn't say they made the cheapest laptops. Just that they make cheap laptops. And they do.

Any laptop under ~800 bucks is dirt cheap. I've paid four/five times that for laptops in the past.

They are certainly NOT a premium brand. Nice try, indeed. At best, they are mid-range. The bulk of their volume are in cheap laptops. And their quality is reflected in their price.

They're certainly not in the league of the Macbook Pro, in price or in quality. Which, if you'll recall, was the original topic of discussion.

FWIW, the cheapest MacBook Pro is $1300. You don't consider $700 cheap for laptops, especially in comparison?
