Edmontonians: Classy people, or classiest people?

This is what I mean about Edmontonians, FWIW.
We've got a respected restaurant and an established restaurateur who has wined and dined people from Presidents of the United States to other NHL teams, and there's been no issues. We're presented with a very believable story about what happened at the restaurant and people in Edmonton trip over themselves and spout the most inane bull**** to try to deflect.
nye thinks it's utterly impossible for NHL players to have foul mouths while intoxicated after a tough loss, it's just unreal."The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."

You cited CTV has having the image showing the tip. When I click on the link YOU sent, it doesn't match up to the photo you attached:

Should we all photoshop images and host them on imageshack, then slyly pretend they were sourced from a reputable place?
That sounds fun."The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."

I don't see any tip in this. Do you?
They may well have paid the tip on the 'revised' bill, but I haven't seen anything that says they did. And even if they did, you are valiantly trying to deflect from the main issue which was they demanded the discount ('revised bill') after the fact and allegedly were abusive to the staff.
Showing that they may or may not have paid an acceptable tip (which they hilariously claim 'generous') does not change that."The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."

I've tried to locate the original source for the one nye cited, but I can't. Some random person uploaded it to imageshack. But that receipt doesn't make any sense -- when you pay by credit card at a restaurant, there's a space to include the tip in there as well as the total (as in the picture with the guy holding the receipt -- which has nothing in the "Tip" section of the merchant copy).
The receipt in that picture is certainly not a valid receipt -- I mean, it's definitely not the 'merchant copy' that you must fill the tip and total in on. I don't know if some sad-sack Oilers fans created it, or if it is indeed from the CTV interview (in which case it may've been a note scribbled by the owner himself to indicate how much tip should have been, which is why he displayed it). But as I said, I can't say...nye couldn't be bothered to source it."The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."

It is for the $12K amount mentioned in the stories.

No. The real issue is that the police should have been called if the Oilers players tried to shirk ~6K in charges. Not the media.(\__/)

It doesn't matter what the **** you write on that bill. If it's not on the MERCHANT'S COPY of the credit card receipt (pictured in the one of the guy holding up the bill, with the EMPTY tip field), it cannot be charged to the credit card."The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Oh, for ****s sakes.
It is a document offered by the scum bag to CTV. It is identical to the first document that he offered, except in amount.
The slip that you linked to shows only $12xxx. The rest is hidden by his grubby little fingers. The same grubby little fingers that no doubt write the cheques to his kitchen staff where he will claim there was no $1888 grat.
The man is a theif, a con, a flim flam man. In Calgary they say this is a respected member of the community. In Edmonton, his business goes dead because he is a thief.(\__/)

If the restaurant did go back and reduce the bill (for whatever reason) and hand it to the players, then they cannot call the police after the fact and complain legally that the Oilers didn't pay. This is law 101.
You also keep avoiding the fact that the real issue here is that the Oilers were allegedly abusive, which is NOT AT ALL surprising given their performance this year, state of inebriation (you've seen the bill for alcohol), etc.
It's pretty ****ing obvious to me that the main problem was the Oilers didn't pre-arrange a pay-by-the-bottle system, in which case restaurants charge you the menu price -- per serving. It sounds like the restaurant went back and adjusted it after the Oilers became abusive.
As for the tip situation, it's a "he said she said" thing. The only thing we have to go on are the receipts the owner showed the media -- the one in the CTV clip has writing on it that may've been written by the owner himself to show what they SHOULD have paid (the mandatory 18% tip). In any case, the receipt in the clip is NOT the one the restaurant can use to charge people -- those receipts are not signed, they're not merchant copies."The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."
