For homework, look up the word "demonstrate" in the dictionary (if you can find one in Edmonton?)

Then think about what you'd need to demonstrate that the man was a liar. For starters, you would need to see the original, signed "merchant copy" that whoever paid for the dinner signed and filled a tip out on. Considering no one has seen this in this thread, you have a remarkably weak definition of "demonstrate" in addition to your remarkably week understanding of the Canadian justice system.

How about two documents produced by him for the media to report on, and the one that shows an amount of $12K, which is reported to be the final amount paid, shows an $1888 grat?

I know that things come a little slowly for people who went through that trade school in Calgary, but come on, the dots are laid out for you to follow.

Again, for the last ****ing time ...we don't know who wrote that. It's very plausible that the owner wrote that out to work out what the mandatory tip was SUPPOSED to be. It's also a fact that the copy we saw is NOT signed and is NOT legally binding.

It demonstrates absolutely nothing but your blind loyalty for the Oilers. It could VERY WELL be that the Oilers DID pay a tip, and the guy did lie (even though I've seen no direct quote from him about the tip situation, just an unquoted statement in the CanWest article), but to call this incontrovertible proof so as to call him a "demonstrable liar" is ridiculous.

It is his own ****ing document. It shows just short of $10K plus GST. The grat is ****ing written in! It corresponds to the amount paid!

He's holding a giant pile of receipts all related to the dinner. We know for a fact that they went through several 'versions' of the receipt before the Oilers finally ended up paying anything. By your OWN ADMISSION, the documents he's holding up are signed by NO ONE and as such are NOT legal.

          What don't you get?

The itemised bill in CTVs report shows the grat.

I'd ask what you do not get, but it is obvious that is a very large set and we lack time.

ITEMIZED BILLS, LET ALONE UNSIGNED ITEMIZED BILLS, DO NOT DEMONSTRATE WHAT WAS ACTUALLY PAID VIA CREDIT CARD.

This concept cannot be any simpler.

FWIW, the answer to the title is 'None of the above', as demonstrated by this thread.

                    You're ****ing nuts.

It's his own ****ing document, and it is the only one that matches what was paid!

How do we know the $18K was not for a single BigRipOff Burger? The ******** produced the itemised bill of how it got up to $14xxx plus GST plus grat (assumed).

He then produced the itemized chit that comes to 9xxx plus GST, and the grat is written in, and it comes to the $12xxx that was paid! You, you, you... Calgarian!

Dude. Can you do the math?

What's 14xx plus GST plus mandatory 18% grat?

                      Do you want a hint?

That is possible but not factually demonstrated. In fact, the unsigned Merchant's receipt clearly shows zero for the tip but it was also never signed.

I'm just pointing out that if you are to call the man a demonstrated liar, you need to demonstrate it. It's quite possible the Oilers did pay tip -- but that is not the point, as I've said repeatedly. The only source that mentions they didn't pay tip is the Edmonton Journal and it's an unquoted segment of the article -- the journalist who wrote it may have made a mistake (being confused by the empty tip on the merchant's receipt?).

                      In any case, we lack:
                      1) a direct quote from the guy saying they never paid tip (unless you've found one?)
                      2) a signed merchant's receipt showing exactly what was paid

Given this, we cannot say the guy was a demonstrable liar and we ALSO cannot discredit his claim that the Oilers were abusive. We all ****ing know how hockey players can be, so don't pretend like it's impossible. For **** sakes...

I am seriously bored to death and am moving on to do other things now.

If you want to continue to prance around this thread pretending that it is impossible that the Oilers were abusive to the wait staff and ignoring the fact that they refused to pay the original tab (which was perfectly reasonably itemized and displayed, and they were not being ripped off), then you can go ahead. But it's ridiculous the lengths you will go to...

It's from the ****ing CTV report!

He claimed there was no grat.

His own ****ing document shows a grat of $1888!

And you are full of ****. The very first CTV report out of Calgary had him claiming there was no tip paid. It is repeated by the TSN report you yourself linked. Only the Journal my ****ing ass! (No, that is not an invitation, you pervert!)

The fact is that there is only the claims of a self-demonstrated liar that the Oilers players were abusive. Oh, and he's apparently going to give $18K to charity because he is so steamed!

                          Conned much?

Do you enjoy going around in circles? Is that what folks do in Edmonton these days for fun when they're done shopping at The Mall?

If you are going to keep posting, at least hold back on the blatant lies. For example, the TSN does NOT say the owner said they never tipped.

You just introduced that 'only the Journal' reported the lack of a grat, councillor, when it is in the TSN story you yourself introduced into evidence.

You aren't very good at this.

But I'm right. You just said the TSN has the guy claiming no one tipped, which is demonstrably (see that word?) false:

CALGARY -- The manager of an upscale Calgary restaurant is furious, claiming that Edmonton Oilers players refused to cover the full cost of a nearly $17,000 tab during a New Year's Eve night out for team members.

Maurizio Terrigno of Osteria de Medici, the restaurant where former U.S. president George W. Bush dined when he was in Calgary last year, said the team and staff owed $16,796.39 but wanted a break on the bill and paid $12,381.45.

Terrigno said about half of the bill was for alcohol totalling $8,248, including dozens of shots of tequila and bottles of expensive wine and $1,000 champagne.

"These guys came in, they enjoyed our hospitality and when the bill came ... they went ballistic to the point where they started threatening, denigrating my staff, saying, `We're the Edmonton Oilers, we expect a 50 per cent discount,' " said Terrigno.

Terrigno said 45 people ordered off the menu and their total bill came to $14,234.23, including $677.98 for GST. The restaurant usually adds an automatic 18 per cent gratuity for a large group, which would bring the total to $16,796.39.

The Oilers had lost by a score of 2-1 earlier in the night against the Calgary Flames.

Oilers spokesman Allan Watt said the restaurant was recommended by some Calgary friends of the players and they had a prearranged meal and menu.

"They received the bill which they felt was outrageous," said Watt.

"They inquired about it and they were unhappy about it and were unhappy with some of the charges. The restaurant adjusted it by $7,000."

Watt said the players paid the adjusted bill and added a $1,900 tip and left the restaurant.

Terrigno said the group, which included team captain Ethan Moreau, attempted to negotiate a discount on the bill.

He said the players argued they should pay by the bottle for dozens of shooters purchased during the bash, but the restaurant charged them for each one individually.

The restaurant tried to charge for a bottle of an imported expensive brandy after one of the players took a swig straight from it.

"They refused to pay for the whole bottle because they didn't consume the whole bottle," said Terrigno.

He said there's no way the restaurant will serve other clients from the same bottle.

Terrigno said at one point he threatened to phone police.

"It's the first time during the 37 years of business have I ever experienced something like this," he said. "What's more upsetting is we know who they are."

Terrigno said because he was infuriated by what happened he plans on donating the money the players paid the restaurant to charity.
How many more lies you got? How low will you go to defend your team?
