It's the only way this makes since as we have a perfectly servicable hole to dump them in right now. What's the point of buying a new one?

CHICAGO — Gov. Pat Quinn and U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin on Sunday tried to build support and counter criticism of a proposal to sell a prison in rural northwestern Illinois to the federal government to house Guantanamo Bay detainees and other inmates.

Federal officials are expected to visit the maximum security Thomson Correctional Center, about 150 miles west of Chicago, on Monday.

Both Quinn and Durbin said the possibility of selling the prison to the federal government was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to help create about 3,000 jobs, both at the prison and directly in surrounding communities in an area where unemployment has topped 10 percent.

What about public show trials for mentally retarded rednecks posting online?

Jesus Christ. If they're guilty and the evidence shows it, then the trial should be pretty straight forward.

It bothers the hell out of me that you assume anyone rounded up and sent to a jail is guilty and trials are just for show. Life must be so simple for you.

What's next? Are you going to pull a Winston and have all Muslims rounded up and sent to Gitmo, then refuse them trials because "if they're in Gitmo they are terrists, so the trials would just be for show"?

Do you have any ****ing idea how bad it makes you guys look when China appears to care more about the pursuit of justice?

You asserted trials for people held in gitmo are a show trials. Then you try to ignore it when people rightfully call you out on it.

Coward. Speaking of having nothing to say -- all you ever do on this forum is post terse bull**** espousing redneck beliefs, probably in a mistaken belief that the if you say don't say much, people may not realize you're not the brightest guy. You've failed to account for the accumulated effects of having to suffer a decade of your posting. You've been figured out.

Be a man and defend your assertion and prove, beyond a reasonable doubt, that EVERY man and child sent to Gitmo is guilty of terrorism. That's the ONLY possible way to label subsequent trials as show trials (though I'm not sure you possess the level of critical thinking to understand this criterion in any case).

No, I said that the trials being held for some of the AQ members soon to be held NYC are going to be show trials. Unseemly ones at that, IMO. Now go away because you bore me.

He, like the rest of us, are waiting for you to give an intelligent response.

Ad hominem. . .show trials. Do you even read what you write?

Oh, for **** sakes DD. You're not smart enough to go toe-to-toe with me. Raise the white ****ing flag and retreat behind the desk of the comic book store you undoubtedly work at.

You need to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that every single 'show trial' they're having that you referenced is a waste of time. That is, you need to tell us how you know -- with all of the many elements at your disposal as an uneducated redneck -- why these people are doubtlessly guilty. And the fact that they're Ay-rabs who lived in a Ferren land does not suffice.

I challenge you to post a ****ing post of substance. In your ten ****ing years on this site, NOT ONCE have you ever posted something that shows you've applied critical thought to the subject matter. If it's not a nerdy one-liner about Star Wars or Lib-ruls, it's a quoted news story from something like Foxnews. Put down the ****ing action figures and think about what you type next. Elaborate on why you think the trials of AQ terrorists are "show trials", and then speak of the ramifications -- would you prefer these people be instantly put to death on the suspicion that they're terrorists? Even China has more pretense to justice than that. But is that what you want?

In any case, your sentence was ambiguous and clearly out of context -- this thread is about Gitmo. In the context and given your mental handicap and heavy biases, "some AQ terrorists" reasonably refers to the population of Gitmo, the subject of this thread.

Basically. If they escape, they'll get help because all the Muslims in the US are terrorist lovers.

The thing is about 20% have rejoined the fight but that's rather astonishingly low. That means 80% either gave up or much more likely were never terrorists to begin with. 4/5ths of the guys seem to have had nothing to do with terrorism and instead just had the ill luck to be foreigners in Afghanistan at a time when the US was offering a $10,000 bounty on foreigners in Afghanistan. To a goat herder living on $1 a day ten grand is a fortune so they swept up anyone and everyone they could and there were many cases of people turning in people they didn't like but who were innocent just to get the money.
