I think that opinion in the United States is decidedly different from the rest of the world because we have a free press -- by free, I mean a virgorously presented right wing point of view on the air and available to all.- Ned

The Aug 6 memo didn't specify any type of attack. The Hart-Rudman Commission gave the Administration a report in early 2001 that focused on the probability that such a kamikaze attack might occur.

The Aug 6 memo did mention there appeared to have been plans to hijack civilian airliners. The news wasn't enough to get the government to actually do anything, but it was enough for Ashcroft to stop using civilian aircraft themselves (as per Clinton's executive order regarding administration travel) and begin taking military flights again.

Furthermore, many countries, including Cuba, gave the U.S. intelligence that a major terrorist operation against the US was in the works. The FBI had a terrorist in hand, and various field offices were very concerned about certain strange flight students, but the Bush Administration was completely unconcerned, except, apparently, for their own safety.

The Bush Administration had ample warning from multiple sources that something bad was coming and chose to do nothing. I cannot believe that any other Administration would have been similarly negligent.

Christianity: The belief that a cosmic Jewish Zombie who was his own father can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master, so he can remove an evil force from your soul that is present in humanity because a rib-woman was convinced by a talking snake to eat from a magical tree...

In all fairness, without specifics what would you have done. These warning were over a considerable period of time. Would you have shut down all air traffic for a few months? If I remember correctly there were similar type warnings during Clinton's reign.

Obama only got where he did because of affirmative action and white guilt, indeed take a look at continually declining African-American SAT scores if you want more proof. Forget his birth certificate: Why doesn't he release his college GPA? I'll tell you why: it's because he had below a 3.0. The statistical odds that he is intelligent are quite low, so if anything in this situation his brain would implode itself under the pressure. It's only a matter of time before he ends up a single mother on welfare in and out of the joint.

Someone needs to keep people honest around here.

So far president Obama has been busy cleaning up the mess the Bush administration has made of 9/11. (Oh yeah, and there's that little thing called a recession going on... And health care reform, about 60 years overdue...)

Yeah, maybe if saint Teddy hadn't fought against it when it was a repug initiative, we wouldn't have to use his death as a rallying point for it now. Or if Clinton hadn't left it to his worthless wife to handle it.

The Repugs were in favor of a government/public optional health care plan at one time??

Yeah, and Teddy and his cronies beat it down because it wasn't their initiative. (universal health care anyway) So those that claim that it's all politics now, guess what, It's always been all politics. It's just a matter of who is currently holding the whip.

                                Nixon.
“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”
