quite slow at the beginning, really picked up. didn't feel like a 2.5 hr movie. brad pitt, as usual in his oddball roles, was brilliant.

Anyone seen it? I changed my avatar to reflect how much I like the movie. Unfortunately I can't find any really cool images from the film. Eventually they'll trickle down to the nets.

But seriously, I had my doubts about this movie after the mediocrity of Kill Bill. But the movie kicks all ass. And no one has a thread on it. Shame.

Let's just say Tarantino is a mediocre over-rated hack plagiarist with great p.r., who has never had a good original idea. I don't think that is over stating it.

Tarantino is an acquired taste. Kill Bill was one of the great ritual movies of all time, especially that scene of Uma versus the "Eighty." Kill Bill 2 and Pulp Fiction, both excellent, were movies that benefit from repeated watchings.

The new movie actually presents a moral dillemna at the end in the question "Is it okay to commit atrocities on them if they have been doing it to you?" I am certain that counterfactual ending is going to be a very big negative for many reviewers and will cause a lot of folk to overlook this question. The issue is fundamental to the recent interrogation debate here in America. I would guess most folks will miss this on the first watching.

Returned home semi-drunk yesterday and catched "The Good German" running on tv....missed the first part though, and don't remember all zat much about the rest, just that I liked it lot and probably have to watch the whole thing again under better conditions. /threadjack

Meh, it was incredibly overrated, but still damned entertaining even despite that.

All I know for sure is that Tarantino's self-congratulatory ego trip at the end spoiled what could have been a great ending. Oh well.

As for this movie it delivers A movie performances, but doesn't take itself so seriously. It's more like a dark comedy or parody. Or as I call it: a fantasy revenge tale. It's a mix of several genres really. The performances are all great, and it's not shot to look like a crappy B movie. The cinematography is excellent. The special effects aren't that great. But his movies generally don't require much effects.

Yeah, he's created the first 'Spaghetti Western Front' movie...

Was good, though

Really enjoyed this movie

Trademark of Tarantino was that it was hilarious, and I liked the use of Chapters, along with all the stories coming together at the end. I also loved the cinematography and how Tarantino plays with camera angles (like the scene when Landa and Zoller were talking about Landa asking Shoshanna a few questions and instead of focusing on Landa and Zoller's face while the dialogue was in the foreground, they focus solely on Shoshanna's and her terror). Christoph Waltz (Col. Landa) was utterly brilliant.
