My offense at St Leo is not mere intellectual distaste - it is a base and powerful emotional response to his juxtaposition of bombastic language with an inconsequential issue. On a first reading he's already convinced me that I wish he didn't exist; contrast this with, say, lawyers, where I have to think a bit and confirm that they really provide no value to society before deciding they should be sent off to the work camps.
