Who the **** said anything about the labour market in Canada? I certainly didn't, you retarded piece of eurotrash.

Yeah, I'm sure that unions ***** and moan about how ineffective they are nowadays and how terrible this is. The fact is that the ONLY REASON for the existence of unions is THE SAME REASON for the existence of cartels: to increase the negotiating power of one side by reducing the number of effective negotiators on that side.

The fact that you're simply unable to admit this is more indicative of your extraordinary intellectual dishonesty than anything else, I'm beginning to suspect. Stop trying to dance around the issue.

Because it's irrelevant to the larger discussion.

BeBro's only argument appears to be that unions are an ineffective cartel, and are therefore not a cartel. Is this what it boils down to?

EDIT: I disagree with both the predicate and the deductive step here, of course

You retardet trashCan tried to tell me how things run here without having the slightest clue what the **** is really going on, so it's irrelevant to me if you meant Canada or something else as long as you claimed my statements about the specific German situation were all wrong.

I made clear that I speak about the German situation. Whether you think that's "the issue" or not is not my problem.

I think it's now pretty obvious that you have absolutely nothing meaningful to say here. Your only refuge is to claim some special knowledge of the German labour market which voids basic logic and economic principles.

Germany is generally taken to be a subset of the Universe. I've described a very simple set of points which are universally true. If a union is a cartel everywhere then it is a cartel in Germany.

Lori, Ben is being mean to me and saying repeatedly I support eugenics by clarifying Darwin's position.

Feel free to prove that I didn't describe the situation correctly, for example when saying that usually German companies have no problems to hire non-organized workers, unless they belong to the mentioned branches with mostly highly specialised workers.

                        I didn't wail on him.

I like him. He's my second favourite German of all time.

My skin is thick enough, it's my mind that Ben blows.

It bothers me that the site admin don't do something about someone whose signal to noise ratio is zero.

He enters a thread, immediately misrepresents the position of everyone posting in offensive fashions, then continues to spew comments that any functionally intelligent person would recognize as ridiculous.

Why is he here? Why hasn't any admin ever, in the history of this site, set him aside and told him "It's a good idea to actually read and understand posts before you reply to them?"

                            The man is a menace.

                              a) Whether or not unions are currently effective in Germany has no bearing on the question of whether or not they are a cartel at all. And this is all I have claimed so far in this discussion.

                              b) Given that the unionization rate in Germany is significantly higher than in other developed countries outside Scandinavia, your claim is laughable on its face. If unions are so ineffective as to have no effect on wages in Germany then they must not have any effect on wages anywhere else either. Thus we can legally disband all unions with no ill effects on workers.

The DGB as the most important umbrella org for many German unions has of course also the most members. I had to look it up, but if Wiki is correct, it was by the end of 2007 6.4 million members. For comparison in 1991 it was over 11 million.

                                http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gewerks...wartssituation (Kraut)

There are some much smaller unions which would add to those ca. 6 million, but the fact remains that a large part of the workforce is not unionised, and companies do employ those easily and regularly.
