Not really. I understand the question at hand. My vote is what it is.
I'd like to see a Powell/Rice ticket. GOP is just dandy with me.

I don't think he left and shut the door afterwards.
I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

        Palin/McCain 2012

Though why anyone would vote republican anymore is a mystery.

Do you get to vote in anything?

I take that as a "No". Good.

seems like we're going with name recognition here

PS: i honestly think GOP made a very big mistake by not getting paul as their chairman like the dems got dean as their chairman after kerry lost. if they're still trying to push war in iraq by 2012, they're ****ed

Didn't people say that about GWB too? "He will never get his agenda through anyway."

And isn't Ron Paul a creationist, i.e. crazy, dishonest, and/or stupid?

he made both right- and left-wing establishments running scared with his platform and qualifications, so he got smeared as "a nutjob" pretty quick. the fact how well it has worked on the general populace of your country's population just demonstrates the intellectual laziness (ie., stupidity, short attention span) of the people of your country.

I don't recall anyone saying GWB wouldn't be able to have his way with a GOP congress? I mean, everything I remember hearing about that sort of thing was how lockstep the GOP was during those years.

If you look at the actual issues, it's not really similar at all either. For instance, war is a favorite American past-time. So it's not outrageous that GWB would be able to get us into a couple of them. On the other hand, free money and debt spending is also a favorite American past-time, so it would be rather absurd to think Ron Paul could get us back on the gold standard.

Basically, GWB played to his base, which happens to be what the GOP in congress plays to as well. Ron Paul is "GOP" in name only, and his tinfoil stuff plays to a crowd which really doesn't have any sway in Congress.

First of all, there's no way I'd vote Republican

Getting that out of the way, a lot of these choices are pretty implausible winners of the nomination (prominently, Powell and Rice). Given the absurd circus freaks that are running for 2012, Romney would be my clear preference (as in 2008). He also has the best shot at winning the nomination by a large margin.

This poll is missing a few possible contenders like Musgrove, Perry, and Ridge.

2016 would be a more interesting question (Huntsman).
