The 1996 welfare reform bill disqualified illegal immigrants from nearly all means-tested government programs including food stamps, housing assistance, Medicaid and Medicare-funded hospitalization. The only services that illegals can still get are emergency medical care and K-12 education.
According to a study by the Urban Institute, the 1996 welfare reform effort dramatically reduced the use of welfare by undocumented immigrant households, exactly as intended.

Everyone has to prove they're a citizen before getting any means tested welfare assistance (that is to say virtually all programs). K-12 education for children is just about the only large expense and that goes to paying for US citizen children to attend public schools which you cannot legally deny to any child. That's it. So please stop with the retarded claims about illegals sucking the welfare system dry because they're just not factually correct. Not even remotely.
