Non-US TV dramas

Yea Felch is right in his first post; BSG, Jericho, etc. Theres an episode in each episode but they are attached to the grand scale story line. That is what a lot of American's want in shows now, a good long story rather than a quasi-continuity sitcom.

I watch a lot UK and Hong Kong Brit shows on my TV in China. Not much for the Chinese variety shows, but their Journey to the West style shows are pretty funny to watch.

Do they only buy US shows, or do they buy shows from other countries as well?

The series are mostly US made, some European from a variety of countries, for example in recent years more scandinavian stuff.

I saw an Italian mini-serie called The Best of Youth recently. Its good.

I recommend the 'Red Riding' trilogy and also the 'State Of Play' series.

And Channel 4's 'Ultraviolet' too...

I used to watch Mexican Soap Operas when I lived in Cali, no Spanish station here in Ohio. I didn't know what they said, but damn were the ladies fine. Why they were all dating fat guys and Ponch is beyond me though.

Red Riding was adapted from books.... as were 'Tinker Talior' and 'Smiley's People'.

I'd never pass up the chance to catch good acting, scriptwriting and adaptation.


And I enjoyed the U.S. series on the Civil War and Jazz. And BBC 2 has terrific documentaries on art and, recently, on the Normandy landings.
