Relevent quote from the source of Sloww's article.News 8 has discovered more than 100 mechanics from Mexico have been recruited by San Antonio Aerospace (SAA) at a time the company is laying off higher wage American workers.

For those who aspire to live in a high cost, high tax, big government place, our nation and the world offers plenty of options. Vermont, Canada and Venezuela all offer you the opportunity to live in the socialist, big government paradise you long for. –Senator Rubio

With fact checkers like that, who needs real journalists? GO TEXAS.
Maybe they should use some TN visas to get competent journalists."The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."

I think it's far more likely they posted the wrong number and have since DanSed it in their article.
Yep. Another local tv station (from San Antonio) copied the article, including the initial glaring error.

The SAA repairmen are the ****ing people that the Mexican repairmen are replacing. No **** they're going to blather on about how the stupid Mexicans can't do their job. The basic fact is that the company finds it cheaper to hire x Mexicans at y dollars an hour than to hire a Americans at b dollars an hour, while getting the same work done. Too ****ing bad. Welcome to the global marketplace, *****es. Factor ****ing price equalization. It doesn't matter whether the Mexicans repair engines in the US or Mexico; the price for an engine repairmen is lower than it used to be because there are more people who can repair engines.
What if there had been a technological innovation which allowed engines to only be repaired half as often? Would we be listening to this nativist bull****? Mexicans are a technology that allows engines to be repaired at some lower cost than they used to be. As far as I'm concerned, anti-traders and anti-immigrants (for reasons of competition with native labour) are no ****ing better than Luddites.12-17-10 Mohamed Bouazizi NEVER FORGET

TN visas are now for 3 years, BTW. They used to be for 1 year (they're still renewable as many times as you could convince the border guy that you plan on leaving someday).

I find it hilarious that ANY reporter allowed a number like that to slip through. There's an army of Mexican aircraft mechanics in San Antonio and NOBODY NOTICED.

Yes, you have to be very careful to mention when you are a software consultant that you are a computer systems analyst."The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."

I think they probably ask a couple of questions about what you'll be doing (and read the job description). If it says "coding 8 hours a day" they will reject you. Or not; who knows how bright the border guys are. They're pretty friendly though. Especially the Vermont ones.12-17-10 Mohamed Bouazizi NEVER FORGET
