  • But it doesn't seem to be in that part of NW Iowa as a look at Google Maps' Satellite view indicates.

    • The farther north you go, the more likely it is to be flat thanks to glaciation.

This year's survey offers fresh evidence that Northwest Iowa is home ot some of the state's richest farmland. Of the nine crop reporting districts, the 12 county-area in the extreme northwest tier reported the highest average value of $5,395 per acre, up 14.8% from the previous year. Included in this district are the counties of Lyon, Osceola, Sioux, O'Brien, Plymouth, and Cherokee. For the first time, three counties had average per-acre prices above $6,000, two of which are O'Brien and Sioux Counties.

Despite the economic downturn, the market remains "pretty darn strong." The worldwide demand for Iowa corn and soybeans is reaching phenomenal proportions.

We all know that corn farming is done on hills & mountains
At no point have I ever mentioned corn farming - talk about desperate!

We could have knocked it on the head already, but oh no, Imran and Drake need more punishment...

In the movie, the landscape in the scene is flat! Flat! Flat! Flat! Flat!

How many times do I have to repeat this central part of my argument?

        You colossal retards!

        • If you knew anything about Iowa, you would've questioned why it was so flat in the movie, not why there was a stone quarry there.

          • Well at least you have the good graces to admit to being pwned now.

The landscape (basically the southern half of the state) Iowa is mainly known for is gently rolling hills - meaning that a lot a lot of it is essentially flat or nearly flat. So, again proving me right.

The one granite quarry that has been found so far in this state is in properly hilly country (as Imran has helpfully agreed) in the extreme NW corner of the state - 2 miles from the border with SD both to the N and the W.

I think the funniest part of this humiliation of you and Imran is how you've both been so completely sucked in from initially pretending not to give a **** about this argument in the first place - to desperately stalking me after I have sought to draw a line under the whole thing...

              Ah, makes sense.

                • Well, obviously you morons aren't going to suddenly turn around and admit you're wrong now after being continually wrong all the way through this thread so far - so yes, I suppose I am the only one.

                        • This argument is retarded on many levels, but the most obvious ones are:

Why would the scenery be the same there now as it was then?
Couldn't they have built a new quarry to get all the materials for the massive **** off spaceport thingy? They must have had a reason to build it there?
They can go faster than the speed of light and teleport and people have issues with a ****ing quarry in the wrong place?!!?!

                          • 1. I liked the movie

                            2. I am willing to give the makers creative licence with the quarry in Iowa--Frankly I don't care

                            3. This thread has to be he biggest display of a boring pedantic need to be right that I have ever witnessed

                            • There were so many ridiculous things in that scene, the most outrageous of which was the blatant Nokia product placement. Frankly arguing about the scenery, when we all know how many Hollywood movies are shot on location in and around California to save money, is ludicrous. This time it was Bakersfield California.

Who cares? It was great fun.

I mean when was Star Trek ever even vaguely realistic?

                              But please everyone carry on.

I had to look up "bat'leth" and when I did, this statement was actually pretty funny.
