I don't like this No Limit much, so far.

I don't understand what being unwilling to put your own money down has to do with online play. Or what it has to do with limit vs. no-limit.

I used to play online, always suspicious of how it could possibly be rigged. Decided to quite while I was (way) ahead. Then, of course, the newsstories came out about how some people had hacked the system, and haven't really been interested in going back. Can't really fathom the point of playing with fake money... if there are no consequences for losing, it's not really poker, is it?

We have a weekly(ish) home game here with other people from my old residency, on average I probably double to triple-up each session.

If you can beat your opponents with even fake money - it is a poker. The point is to crush your rivals. Fake money or not - it's still a poker. And it is still fun.

Btw, David Floyd plays holdem, but I don't know where.
Pokerstars is easy, after it logs you in look for the requests tab at the top, find a player is one of the options, just type their handle in...

While I agree somewhat, the lack of any "real money" stakes means that most fake money games I have been in have multiple idiots who go all in on the first hand even with the most ridiculous cards. I always figured they were playing multiple games or sites at the same time and didn't mind getting eliminated in 90% of their games as long as they could double or triple up in some other games on hand one

The other thing is that the lack of real money means you can just leave-- I have played in a fake money tournament for a few hours a few times and
fallen asleep and lost my stack to the increasing blinds.

Since its not real money you don't care. The one thing I try NOT to do is just go all in because I need to go. It might seem silly but I think it ruins the integrity of the game a bit --

So for the fake money games my preference are the 10 player tournament style games-- More players play real poker than in the large tourneys or the tables where you can come and go or even replenish your stack. (At tables where stacks can be replenished I see idiots going all in repeatedly-- They just disappear for a hand and then return and go all in again -- I don't see the point and it ruins the game for everyone else when no bet other than all in is possible) Occasionally you still get a touney style table where three folks are all in before the flop with such gems as 7-4 offsuit but thats more the exception than the rule. Usually those folks seem to be there to play poker

Oh ya and I mainly played at an outfit called ultimatebet but never played that much and haven't been there in a couple of months-- seeing this thread has rekindled my interest so maybe I will go find a game tonight

Oh and I played at facebook a couple of times but it seemed like it was ridiculously easy even for someone like me who doesn't proclaim superior skills. While not everyone was an all-in idiot, the players were generally playing so loose that over time it was easy to pick up lots of chips from folks that seemed to always need to see the flop. I'm sure there are good players even there
