Actually, if you look at the numbers, the U.S. has been running budget deficits pretty constantly since the Great Depression. As a percentage of GDP, the deficit now is lower than the one we had in '45.

In 1945 we were fighting WORLD WAR TWO.

Really? Getting old and ending up in a home sounds like such a pathetic and terrible way to end your life...

I saw my godfather as a shell of his former self from the effects of senility - it is one of the most terrible things I have ever experienced and I won't be going down that road myself.

Actually my father, who's at 82, still lives on the golf course and enjoys playing. That's the type of home that I'm looking forward to. He plays bridge on-line a lot so his brain isn't totally gone yet.

This. We are totally scared ****less that we aren't going to have anything in the future so we have to rise up and be better than our parents were when it comes to everything in life. So far we've knocked liberal social attitudes out of the park.
