One of my problems with personal attacks is that they are so boring. People aren't inventive enough.

Because of this, we should have a filter that changes the words of commonly used personal attacks into something more interesting.

Possibly we could even have it grab a random word from the dictionary?

Personally, I agree with everybody here who posted recommending enforcement of the "no personal attacks" rule.

But, to play Devil's Advocate, could you make a sub-sub-forum called "Way Off Topic"? In that forum it's no holds barred and Polytubbies who like to play Fight Club rules with the personal stuff could do so. It would be clearly marked as warning that you enter at your own risk.

There are interesting personalities here and sometimes they're at their most entertaining when they're going all-out for each other's throats. That currently happens out in the OT, but instead of eliminating it entirely, put aside a rough-and-tumble playground area where they can go and let off steam and come back relieved.

You won't find me in there, but it's a suggestion. Trolls need playgrounds too - you may as well co-opt them rather than try to force them to play nice all the time, everywhere.

That's right Jrabbit, the forum itself after the first bit would get little use. The trolls need people to feed off to have fun. That's why AH's PROT forum died. It was the first experiment with that concept though AH might not have realized it.
