Yeah, we Civ2 players were in denial. We may have hated III, but it generated a lot of traffic.

When Civ3 was released 'Poly had the better management and community engagement, and a slightly older and more mature playerbase (even though the numbers were broadly even).

By the time Conquests was released CFC was pulling ahead - it continued to innovate and evolve, became the hub for modding etc, and had very strong management. The people in charge knew what they wanted and they made it happen. By the time Civ4 came out it was, alas, game over.

I just loaded Civ IIIetc up last night, take a break from Colonization. Now I'm on the hunt for the mods I used to play. Mods are the thing, and they reflect the maker. Like Dale's Col mod, really decent.

Im 50-50 on how Asher has viewed Dales work, see i am not a so called Modder, I truly fit into how Asher described his view on Dale, I dont reinvent, merely tweak to my satisfaction for some alternate gameplay

Do we agree to forgive Dale for this breach of trust? No, we have no governing authority, only have that sense of a bad taste.

Well, if Ming,rah,DanQ and Locutus have ruled on and invoked their response, I say we all move forward.

It is not going to change but we really should look at Dales character and ask ourselves, have we ever done anything and needed forgiveness even though we have not asked for it?

Dale is clearly mentally unstable. He needs to go.

I don't consider the death threat credible, but the fact that he went as far as he did and was as creepy as he was, it's worthy of a permaban. He's probably just upset because I'm a good judge of character. I had pinpointed him as a bat**** crazy, self-important modder who had delusions of grandeur and I think that hit home for him -- it's why he has such undeniable hatred for me. I saw through his act.

I'm not denying it contributed to the Civ community, even if I don't like his mods, but what he did is not hard or difficult. Just time-consuming.
