Why are you so surprised? That kind of utter bull**** is really just par for the course.

I was expressing great frustration in getting a headache reading that post of his, rather than surprise.

Why do you think I added BK to my ignore list? Really, you'd be so much happier if you just stopped paying any attention to him.

He was wrong on whether this bill required compulsory service (like how -Jrabbit was wrong about AmeriCorps), but there has been much talk lately about the idea of requiring compulsory service. I hope it doesn't happen, but it would scare the hell out of me if it did. It truly would be slavery then.

So why attack Ben for being wrong but not -Jrabbit?

                  Seriously lighten up folks.

What if it was only compulsory for children?

That's what the 13th Amendment is for anyway. The SCOTUS has applied it far beyond southern black slavery to de jure and even de facto debt peonage, so it wouldn't surprise me if non-conscriptive compulsory service would get struck down too.
                      Unbelievable!

                        I wasn't attacking Ben. I was dismissing him. There's a difference.

Ozzy, I know you're trying to play the peacemaker here, but there's no conflict for you to mediate.

                        Seriously, stop trying.

Ozzy's used to defending children and Ben has the intelligence and reasoning abilities of a 6-year old*. I'm not sure Ozzy can help it.

                          * I apologize for offending any 6-year olds.

Ozzy, it has to do with past history. A course of performance, if you will.

He called the program as being akin to a SLAVE bill.

Can you really think of a more dumb statement than that? It's not the fact that he was mistakened in what he said. It's that he makes such outrageous analogies that make abosolutely NO SENSE whatsoever.

Had his description been accurate, would the analogy still have been outrageous and nonsensical?
