I agree that it probably won't matter much, but I expected better. All of the "ONEs" retoric and the hope of all the people that think they elected a GOD. Reality is going to slap them all in the face because of all the talk of change, we're seeing a lot of same ole, same ole. All the talk of taking washington back from the narrow special interests, and lobbyists, but if you looked at the sponsors for most of the GALA balls (including those from Illinois) the lobbyists were throwing around money like it was going out of style. (of course American dollars probably are)

America has been fooled again. Entering day 2 of the continuing nightmare.

I don't know how you could argue against that.
Dude, have you ever seen anyone on these boards say anything like that?

Oh, so now it was just an innocent mistake? Pick a story.

Fun fact: people are often a lot better at the job they do all year round than a task they do once a year, and that changes every year.

Close, but I guess after watching the love fest over the last few days on Television, it's obvious that there are quite a few people that think that way. It's just getting to be a bit much. There is no way he's going to be able to live up to most of their expectations. Which is a shame. I do admire a lot of what he's done, but to believe that he's untainted and is going to solve all the world problems is a quite the fantasy. He's just another politician.

It's your own damn fault for watching network news. Stop rotting your brain.

This is America, you don't have to actually live up to anything you demand of others. A couple of months and this will be as if it never existed.

The Press are behaving like frolicking children at the moment and look a little silly doing it. This comes in part from being talked to after years of being stonewalled. However the press still are heavily armed and armored and they will turn on this administration like they've turned on every other. In the meantime, I say let Lord Obama pick his knights, however flawed they may be. When the slaughter starts, he'll need loyal defenders. The hassles to come will be a lot clearer than the tax code as it relates to the deductability of children's summer camps.

Is it just me, or would others question the appointment of one of the people who built the house of cards that just collapsed to the position of building something more substantial in the future.]

The alternative POV is that he's intricately familiar with how it failed, and can build a system without the first's mistakes.

A well thought out reponse. Thank you.

Further proof that the media still leans to the left. Heck I checked out FOX to see if they were playing it like a funeral, but they were not that different then the others. They all got caught up in the frolicking.

So I assume you have evidence to show that he ran the New York Federal Reserve Bank into the ground? After all, how could he have run that institution if he couldn't do his personal taxes, right?

Personally I don't care much either way. The man is clearly knowledgeable about the system (having risen so far and so fast within it) but as others have said, the system itself has been the problem, so how well Geitner will be able to reform what he has been part of it a question. Not impossible though - after all, it was Chester A. Arthur who signed the Pendelton Act.

They lean towards power, I think. They fawned over Bush early on, particularly right after 9/11 (when nearly everyone liked the guy). They did a craptacular job of calling him on his bull****. The NY Times was chearleading the run up to the Iraq war, ffs.

The media will typically fawn over each new President, I think. They will turn on an unpopular or lame duck President. A guy like Obama, riding in on very high approval ratings, replacing a guy with approval ratings in the 20s... has a lot of political capital. So yeah, they will suck up to him... at least for a while. They want access (access means less hard work actually researching stories and other hard stuff like that).

Journalists lean to the left. The Press is a capitalist institution though. The journalists themselves don't have significant power.

I was being generous imagining what it says about the man and his competence that he looked at his W2 form and saw a big 0 in the box where it details SS and Medicare taxes paid after signing a statement saying that he was aware that he would be responsible for paying them on his own and just forgetting about them and only fully paying up when a confirmation hearing seemed imminent.
Re GePap: I would point toward his role in crafting and supporting the failed bailouts/nationalizations of the Bush admin if you want further evidence of incompetence.
