Ben is turning into one of the ultimate evil villains though...gotta hand it to Cuisack for going from a 3 episode contract to being a central charactor ****ing awesome guy IMO.

Agreed. I love Ben to death, but if he really killed Penny then even I would be forced to despise him.

Ideal, but cool, speculation. Seeing Ben leave the church then appear at a phone booth with a broken arm and blood all over him leads to that sort of thing.

He was at the marina and all messed up. Considering that he swore to Widmore last season that he would kill her, it seems like a pretty sound theory.

Would Ben killing Penny make Widmore a good guy?

Also, where did Widmore's goons disappear to? The first couple episodes of the season, they seemed to be behind every tree. Suddenly, they're nowhere to be seen. Maybe he ran out.
              John Brown did nothing wrong.

Maybe Ben killed CW as well?

Well it's all speculation on our part. He may have attempted to kill Penny, only to be foiled by Desmond. But if he tried to kill her, I like to think that Desmond would go totally William Wallace on his ass.

                      • We don't actually know how Desmond and Penny traveled to Los Angeles, so the marina might well be a fake-out. They were traveling on a boat the last we knew, but it really doesn't make sense for them to sail from London to LA.

Ben killing Penny does make a great deal of narrative sense, though. What better way to get Desmond to return to the Island than to kill his wife and cause him to seek revenge?

                        • ben had his arm in a cast when he made the phone call though, so it's not like he murdered Penny and then immediately told Jack to hurry the **** up.

                            • It isn't in Ben's nature to kill Penny. He would kidnap her and use her to manipulate Widmore.
