I see what you're saying, flash, but Ben has himself admitted that he sometimes doesn't think rationally. He said as much when confessing to Hurley about trying to murder Locke.
The execution of Alex would definitely be something he wouldn't be thinking rationally about."My nation is the world, and my religion is to do good." --Thomas Paine

Now, I think he was thinking very rationally when killing Locke. One of two reasons--either suicide is a big no-no for the Island, or (my preference) Ben got some information out of Locke that made him expendible--either that he needed to see Hawking, or Jin was alive.
I think Sun is the woman who took a boat with Frank, and Sayid is around there somewhere with the Ajira people as well. Kate, Jack, and Hurley are stuck in the past--they are also the members of the O6 who had off-island visitiations by spirits. This means something."My nation is the world, and my religion is to do good." --Thomas Paine

Last nights episode was dissapointing. Yes it was nice to see how John died, but besides that it was a slow and tedious episode. The type that turned people away from it. We need more content. It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Sheeple

I agree rah.
I have taken to watching the 8pm with the pop-ups from last week, to get a jog of the brain. One thing that bugs me is that I think the writters expect us to read too much into the show. They may recall that in season 1 this was said and that is critical, but how am I to know that? Like Ben going after Penny, how was I to draw that connection? They also put to much emphasis on stupid little things, I just wish the show was more "aha" enjoyable which I thought they were trying to be.

Yes, it's a real art to create a show that will satisfy the small majority of junkies while still being enjoyable to that masses. I fall someone in between. I like some of the obscure twists, but counting the balloons at Hurleys party is a bit too obscure for me.
I hope last night's episode was the exception because I've really enjoyed this season so far. It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Sheeple

I liked last night's episode. But I like John Locke, and I like The Wire, so seeing Locke with Matthew was cool. I was hoping that the conversations Locke had with the O6 would have been a bit more invigorating. Still a damn sight better than those season 2, early season 3 eps. We got filled in on what happened to Locke, and it looks like things are set up well for the next several episodes.
It seems as though Locke and the others wound up on the island with the Hydra station. Are they in the modern time frame, or do you think that the D.I. has already abandoned the station at this point in the Jack et al timeline? I'm guessing that Locke and his people are in the present, and separated by decades from the others.John Brown did nothing wrong.

Yeah, they're separated by at least 20 years or so.
I liked last night; I liked that the conversations were low-key. They needed to be; Locke needed to be shot down again and again. He needed to have his faith questioned, ridiculed, dismissed. I think that was the point of the episode."My nation is the world, and my religion is to do good." --Thomas Paine
"The subject of onanism is inexhaustable." --Sigmund Freud

I like last nights episode on the whole; not a great one, but it served a purpose as Guy says, and it also leaves more episodes for cool stuff to happen; I think it would have sucked to have Johns' adventure spread out over a couple of weeks. You just wasted six ... no, seven ... seconds of your life reading this sentence.

Well, he was holding a live hand grenade in his hand, several meters underwater, without any scuba equipment or other breathing apparatus.
So, yeah, I'm calling him dead.
EDIT: apparently, he was confirmed dead by Carlton & Cuse on the third season Blu-Ray."My nation is the world, and my religion is to do good." --Thomas Paine
"The subject of onanism is inexhaustable." --Sigmund Freud

Not to mention that he was holding onto an exploding grenade, underwater, etc. etc., AFTER taking a spear to the chest.
I liked him too, but that was a pretty bad-ass way to go out."My nation is the world, and my religion is to do good." --Thomas Paine
"The subject of onanism is inexhaustable." --Sigmund Freud
