I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts. ~ Rudyard Kipling, 1891

The only way the change wont affect me is if my cable company continues to send analog signals through the cable (since I use some analog tvs without cable boxes). I agree with you that it doesn't make sense to pay for analog cable in 2009."The issue is there are still many people out there that use religion as a crutch for bigotry and hate. Like Ben."

Personally, I think I'm going to drop cable TV. As you say, it's amazingly expensive, not least because of all the taxes on it. The transition seems like as good of time as any to do so.Last edited by DanS; January 12, 2009, 14:17.I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. who in the hell still gets tv over the airwaves.
oh wait, I do.. My reason is more of a protest over the cable company's lack of service in my area (with regards to fixing my internet problems). So I cancelled cable all together. It pretty much all sux. Except for AMC. I love AMC

Mad Men used to be great but lately it has jumped the shark. Hopefully the new season is better but typically series decline more and more not less.Try http://wordforge.net/index.php for discussion and debate.

By the way, I've read that the digital switchover for over-the-air is actually somewhat related to the switchover for cable.
Apparently, the FCC gave some incentives for cable companies to make the switch before the February deadline for over-the-air. My cable company, RCN, is making the switch tomorrow (i.e., before the end of the month). We'll get tons more HD channels immediately because of the switch and sometime this year broadband internet speeds will start maxing out at 100 mb/s down -- with Docsis 3.0, which allows the cable companies to aggregate more channels for broadband service.I came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter. Interesting... I'd read the opposite, actually, that major cable companies had been asked to (and agreed to) stop converting over until after the February deadline, to avoid confusion with (no idea what). Don't recall where I read that, though, but it was a major news site (maybe CNN).
Also, the extension failed in the House, don't know if anyone saw that ...
It could come back next week as a regular bill (needing only a majority), but (at least my hope is) that seems too late in the timing - barely two weeks before it's supposed to happen.<Reverend> IRC is just multiplayer notepad.

Yeah, I know Comcast in my area was doing to do it in March because of that.“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”
