Don't pretend you care about humanity. You're a fascist.

In any event, in order to unify the state the process would have to start with a truth and reconciliation process, where both sides acknowledged the crimes they've committed against the other. Probably there will need to be a period of amnesty for each sides' war criminals, ten to twenty years, perhaps, before they start getting tried. Only after that, will there be a chance for peace.

This problem is not a land problem.
      It's a hate-problem.
The solution is that the arab nation should stop hating israel and wanting Israel be totally destroyed.

      - That would end the funding of Hamas and Hezbollah, etc.
      - That would end the refusal of many arab nations to accept the palestinian refugees that have to camp for over 50 years inside their territories already (!!!)
      - That would end the use of the palestinians as a shield and tool against Israel, by the Arab (And Iran) nations
      - That would be the beginning of peace desires.

Right now the population of Gaza / west bank is hate-fed against ISrael every day.
They have more desires to destroy Israel then to build uptheir own nation.
That hurts the Palestinians most, in the end.

If peoples hate their neighbour more then they love themselves, then there will no peace. No matter how you draw the borders.

che - as much as i share your opinion often a time (and in this case as well), i just wish you would demonstrate i bit more feeling of tact sometimes. I can hardly imagine something more insulting than calling a jew a fascist. You can point out, that some of his thoughts may remind you of fascism, and show how so, but please refrain from personal insults of this kind. It doesnt help at all.

And you're a silly communist who lives in a dream world, simplifying complex realities you don't understand, into terms of good and evil that are detached from the actual world.

The difference is that what you said about me is libelous, while what I said about you is true.

There's no need for a state unification. No one would gain absolutely nothing from that and only more things will be put at stake and more reasons for hatred.

Neither do the sides needs idiotic reconciliation processes where they acknowledge each other's idiotic narratives. a solution to the palestinian issue involves respectfully fullfilling both side's aspirations (security vs. independance). It has no bearing on whether the sides will go on to like each other. Much less share the same bed (ie state).

Reconciliation will come after several concrete phases:
            1) both sides will be separated for several years, with 0 chance for conflict. a foreign force will protect both sides' interests, preventing the sides from warring directly with each other
            2) after the separation period, economic reasons or a foreign threat might very well bring the sides together.

If there is to be a two-state solution, Siro, the settlements - ALL OF THEM - have to go.

See, Ben is wrong when he simply says "all Israel wants is peace." No, Israel wants peace but only on their terms. And, throughout the years - peace process or not - they've been expanding the settlements, with little or no intention of giving them up.

But I don't think a two state solution is gonna happen. Israel will want far too much control over a Palestinian state (understandably, I might add, given the current situation) for it to be acceptable/viable. I agree that the 1-state solution is, at least now, a bit of a pipe dream. But hey, all solutions to the issue are pipe dreams right now.

What's the problem with Egypt and Jordan getting the two Palestinian parts? If pressure was applied where it needs to be this would have been sorted already...

I'd be up for a media blackout. Out of sight, out of mind.

Really, it's not our problem and there's nothing we can do about it and I'm getting very sick of the whole thing. It's so 1990s.

You mean aside from the fact that neither Egypt nor Jordan want anything to do with the Palestinians? Add to that the fact that the Pals don't want to be Egyptians or Jordanians.

The end of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict will come when one side is utterly defeated and removed from the land just like the Germans of Prussia, Poland, and the Sudetenland were removed. Until then we'll see a bunch of petty wars which never achieve anything lasting. Either the Arabs will achieve their long held dream of killing every Jew who doesn't flee or the Israelis will eventually grow a pair and force out every Palestinian who isn't killed where they stand. Until then petty wars will continue.

Yes, this sucks but this is how it will play out. The Palestinian position that all Jews must be killed or driven out means there can be no other end. Least of all a two state solution where everyone lives in peace.

Eventually the Mubarack dictatorship will be over thrown by Islamists and/or the absolute monarchy in Jordan will be and then the real blood lust of the Arab street will come to the forefront. A huge final conflict is how this is going to end. Only one side will be left standing so the only question is will all the Jews be killed or driven off or will the Arabs suffer total defeat? By total defeat I mean all Arabs driven out of the historical land of Israel with such loss of life that it will be generations before they think of resorting to war again. Anything less won't end the fighting. One side must conclusively lose.

exactly... it's not about what they want, but rather what can work... and can work very easy... it would definitely beat the cost of resolving (or not resolving) this problem any other way...

1.5 mil people extra for Egypt is not much, while West Bank is a bit more to swallow for Jordan, but in the interests of long term solution, no more murder, Palis get the way out, and Jordanians and Egyptians help their brothers while receiving "restructuring funds"... The borders move to 1967, Israeli settlers who are over the border just get the long term residence visas (that is if they want to stay) and it's a win win...

If anyone of them gets pissy, at least Israel will not look that bad in an open war against a proper enemy and not against some odd freedom fighter hiding amongst women and children.
