  • FOX News Chicago and FOX News are not the same thing. Sigh...

I think you're worse than Oerdin, if only because you should know better.

Yeah! Fox News Chicago is the Fox News outlet in Chicago. Wow, what a difference!

      • Fox News Chicago is a local Fox affiliate. It's showing House right now, not The O'Reilly Factor.

        • My uncle worked for a FOX affiliate, and I can assure you that it's not much different at that level.

Still, what would be the rationale of the Obama camp releasing a report that was at odds with the FBI investigation? Considering they'd know about the wire taps, that the official report would be released eventually, and any discrepancy would be potentially devastating as well as invite scrutiny from the prosecutor, it makes absolutely no sense they'd try to cover up any contacts.

Stop being so desperate to find a there there.

As sad as this argument based on anecdotal evidence is, it is an improvement over your previous standard. Kudos.

You're just frustrated because it's more evidence than you have that Obama and/or Emanuel are covering something up.

It's also worth noting that the PIPA study that showed FOX viewers were more misinformed than others included affiliates in their study, and those viewers were as bad as the cable news viewers.

                  • You've amply demonstrated in this thread that what you think you know and what is actually true are seldom the same thing.

I merely pointed out how such unsubstantiated crap "invites speculation" and will continue to, in relation to what was then a discussion of whether Rahm's opting for a media blackout made any sense, nothing more.

The actual quantity, content, and participants of any and all contacts aren't yet confirmed on the record by transcripts or court documents, and I'm content to give him the benefit of the doubt until that happens, as I've already said. Hell, even NGR is.
                      Unbelievable!

Considering the only things really being argued over are purely matters of opinion, this is a silly statement that just shows you're getting desperate.

If Emanuel had held a press conference, especially one that said nothing, would that in ANY WAY have prevented the Sun Times from running that story? Of course not.

My point has been that this notion that Emanuel not giving a presser was somehow hurting his position, or making it worse or whatever was speculative bull****. There's zero reason to believe it would have altered the current level of media speculation.

                            • There's a big difference between A) preventing media speculation and B) simply defusing it by leaving the general public with little reason to pay attention to it. One is damned near impossible (absent transcripts etc.), while the latter can be accomplished with a few reassuring words through actual face-time that most people will accept without a second thought. Like I said before, even if there's little to gain besides image (or on a bad day nothing to gain), either way there's absolutely nothing to lose. You haven't explained to me what the actual harm would be.

Wasn't at least part of this big "change" in the way Washington works supposed to be somewhat more transparency and direct engagement with the public, instead of hiding under the sheets like Bush & Co. have made the norm for at least the last half-decade? That's at least partially what I voted for last month, but silly me for getting my hopes up...
