Only in cities. Small towns like mine have 9-5 desk service, at best, and irregular car patrols at night.

There are also limitations to how close they can be to schools, parks, etc.

My town is 10.000 people. Closest 24/7 station is 25 km from here.

I can understand that. Towns that size would usually have a detachment here but our crime levels are somewhat higher (guessing). 5K or less and you will usually be depending on neighbors.
