Especially given recent events, the West feels the Conservative party is the one which represents their views in government.
Yeah, and? There is no Quebec Conservative party. Federally Charest is a Conservative, if you don't recall.
For the forseeable future, a Tory leader will come from the West. Because the leaders of all of the other parties come from the East.
Then for the foreseeable future the Tories will not get majorities. Not saying that a Western leader will not be able to get majority, but rather that if non-Western Canada, which is 2/3 of population, feels that Tories are a Western party first and foremost they will vote against them.
Liberals can win majority without winning West. Conservatives cannot win a majority while winning only small minority of non-West.
