Used to live in Monterey, another beautiful place that is very expensive. If you don't mind the heat, Salinas is less expensive. Not much in the way of chemical industry work in that area, though.

The City does not get that hot mostly. Nor does Monterey. But as you move away from those the summer temperatures do get challenging.

San Diego is the shiznet.
Only good thing about it is the massive amount of gay navy boys with blue balls when they come in. It's legendary actually, in the gay community.

My sister lives outside Seattle and loves it. I've only visited once. Beautiful, But it rains almost as much as Vancouver...
The Bay area is just about my favorite (U.S.) place to visit. I had to turn down a gig out there because I couldn't afford decent housing without having a huge daily commute. But heck, you can probably snap up a lovely foreclosure close to the city for well below market value. The restaurants, the architecture, the music scene... great public transport too.
Haven't spent enough time in either place to feel qualified to vote. Plus, sounds like you've decided.

This reads like a list of the cities with more douchebags per capita. I think they just mislabeled it.
SIGN ON SAN DIEGO SAN DIEGO SAN DIEGO SAN DIEGO SAN DIEGO probably SAN DIEGO got it SAN DIEGO wrong SAN DIEGO.

Why does San Diego suck?
Lack of cultural activities? Horrible public transportation? Snobby, stuck up people? Outrageously priced homes? Why should I stay in San Diego? I will be leaving SD soon. Thank you it's been *fun*
agree with you. I lived in LA and the transportation is much better in LA than here in San Diego. As for things to do in SD ummmmmmmm exactly nothing. When I first moved out her I was excited and it seems that there was so much to do (i.e the beach, downtown/gaslamp, the outlets, the zoo) but now I see that that is the only thing to do in SD. Now in LA it seems that there is always some type of function going on free concerts on the weekends (not just during the week like SD) there is so much diversity in LA also. The only diversity in SD is the Mexican historical landmarks (which are great by the way) but there should be much more since SD is a tourist attraction so many people say.
Now I have been to Chicago, NY, and San Fran and it is soooooo much to do there just about everyday of the week. These cities have so much free stuff to do and it's not lame either. The zoos and parks are 10x better than SD parks and zoos.
I guess the only positive things I can say about SD are 1. the Mexican historical landmarks and the beaches, there is much beauty there...but if I move I don't think I will miss it that much.
I definitely agree with you. Culturally.. San Diego definitely needs to work on that big time! Lets face it culinary isn't big here in San Diego as well as art! Yeah there is Balboa Park and a couple art walks in the east village of downtown but San Diego needs to build. And i totally agree with the whole snob issue.. i swear Why are people in San Diego such snobs when they have no reason to be!! I mean that's a big reason why i don't go to Downtown San Diego a bunch of wanna Be's that go out on their PAY DAYS and take picture constantly through the night... Buuuutt i have to admit San Diego is pretty clean and San Diego is a SMALL big city. Everything is pretty much in a 20 minute radius so its not too bad. unlike los angeles or anywhere else of course San Diego has its pros and cons but in certain areas such as kensington, university heights, adams ave and east village downtown are a lot cultural than the rest of San Diego. So Before you go check it out at least.
These are facts!
