Shouldn't employment options be the biggest factor? Can you both get jobs in your fields in either area?

Portland is great, but good luck finding a job here.

I'd recommend San Diego, too. Also quite expensive, but an incredible climate.

The people in San Diego are too douchey. Hipster liars and the like. Never, EVER an option.

We don't want him here. In fact he should stay in Canada.

                  Why do you hate Canada?

I agree with Asher, San Diego and pretty much anything south of Bakersfield is to pricy, crowded, snobby, and stuck up to even bother with. I'm thankful that those people like their little hell so much that they stay in it. NorCal is much nicer, central coast the best though.

North Carolina suppose to have nice ChemE jobs with tech heavy possibilities for you. Cheaper cost of living too, not sure how they handle the gay thing though.

                      Vancouver also nice.

Make him go to Texas if he won't stay in Canada. Sloww would love that.

I'd genuinely prefer to live in Austin than San Diego.

Some are saying Dallas has a lively gay scene too. I haven't been down that way since I heard that. Maybe next spring.

I agree, but then I chose to live here.
Not as much excitement as the Bay Area, and no professional sports though.

The central coast is definitely nice largely because there are so few people and it's mostly undeveloped. On the down side it can be hard to find a job and housing is still pretty expensive.
